Kardinal Offishall - Numba 1 (Dutty Sout Remix) ft. David Banner & Alfamega
Artist: Kardinal Offishall
Featuring: David Banner , Alfamega
Producer: JD Dready
Album: Not 4 Sale
Label: Black Stone Colleagues/GFMGG
As we reported last week, Kardinal Offishall has recorded two completely different remixes to his current hit single, Numba 1 (Tide Is High). After replacing featured hook singer Rihanna (who is on the album version of the record) with Keri Hilson, the Toronto native has teamed up with David Banner and Alfamega for a ‘Dutty Sout’ remix. Instead of reusing Supa Dups’ original beat, Kardi called in a favor from United Kingdom producer JD Dready, one of several international production talents he worked with on his domestic debut, Not 4 Sale. Coming in December is the second remix, which will feature Barrington Levy and Busta Rhymes.

This is a completely different song from the original. It doesn't even resemble it to me. With that said this is alright. I always apreciate KO's flow. When I first heard the song I thought David would be outta place on this, but I was dead wrong. He murdered this somethin fierce. Alfa brought this home with his speed flow as well. I would like to hear luda on this and it would be a wrap. This started as a two for me and ended as a 4.

I was not feeling the production when it first started, but when Kardinal started spitting...he went off! That's "off" in the good way. I didn't like the hook though. The original hook was way better. David's verse was cool and Alfa was hype as usual, but he's never really on my radar ever.

The only thing that this version shares with the original (other than Kardi) is the title. Love both guest verses, and a real solid beat. The original brought more energy, but this does itself justice.
What up, Kardi! |

This is a bumping song that needs to be redid with a new hook and maybe a new vocalist, or something, I don't know what it is. Just make it over with a new hook and vocal.
