Kanye West - Take One for the Team
Artist: Kanye West
Featuring: Keri Hilson , Pusha T , CyHi The Prynce
Producer: Kanye West
Album: Good Music Friday Series
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
Distorted beatboxing, Dougie Fresh-era cat calls, for this week’s G.O.O.D. Music entry Kanye West throws on his dookie rope and goes back to the ‘80s. As for the record’s theme, Take One for the Team means doing a lot of bad for the greater good, whether it be picking up sidechicks or according to Pusha T, court cases. Kanye starts off the show by making the claiming that TOFTT is as classic as Slick Rick’s Lodi Dodi, a blasphemy to be sure, but by now we’re used to Ye’s outrageous proclamations. One Yeezy proclamation that has rung true throughout the series though is that a guest will steal the spotlight and on this record, despite some solid vocal backing from Keri Hilson, it’s CyHi Da Prynce. Hilarious and outspoken, the ATLien shows out by questioning extra chicks on dates and even lets Big Sean take shots on a girl he wouldn’t touch. Will we hear more boom-bap like this when Kanye’s incredibly anticipated new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, drops on November 22? Given the success of the Good Music series, I’m betting Mr. West will have another classic to put up on the mantle.

A throwback for Kanye here. Super fresh, lots of fun, and it has the feel of an actual album inclusion (rather than just a super group, for amusement creation).
Pusha T sounds hungry for more - lets hope he eventually gets his turn after Ye drops off his new album this fall. |

Yes, finally Kanye choose the right artists and the amount this time. No odd or unnecassary ones or a huge pack of his friends.
Pusha and Cyhi I guess shouldn't be a surprise but Keri was a nice one though. Her vocals complimented the record over the beat boxing production, which was great. Ye, Pusha, and Cy all did their thing like I knew they would. |

They all go in one this one, except for Keri Hilson could've done without her. Side Note, the cover Kanye got mad about on twitter for being banned was funny as hell.

Definitely near the top of the list for G.O.O.D. Friday releases. I love the production, it's almost eerie. I love everything about this track except Keri. I think she is pointless on this one. But don't get me wrong, I'm still her future husband and she is still very talented. Just not for this track. 4.5/5.

No denying, they all did their thing. It takes a few listens to realize it, but they truly all meshed well to create, in my opinion, a solid track.

The type of song that if heard by everyone would be blasting in everyone's car with the bass turned all the way up. I think Pusha is a beast every time he jumps on one of these G.O.O.D. Friday tracks. The man has been killing it lately. I wasn't really that big a fan of Keri's part, but backed up with solid verses by Pusha, Kanye and Cy it doesn't really matter.
P.S. that production was insane. |

Sold when i heard "Why every ghetto ***** gotta smell like Love Spell or that god damn Cucumber bath & body works". Overall knock but sorry Keri Hilson was wasted bars though...

The best G.O.O.D. Friday leak behind the remix to "Power" and "Monster". Keri could have been dropped (Pusha's chorus was catchier to being with) but no real complaints here.

Love the production, but its a bit monotonous. Not the worst GOOD Friday track, but not the best either.

I wouldn't havev included Keri but other than that this is a good effort. This could work well for the album.. Pusha has been fire on everything he has touched lately

One of the best G.O.O.D Fridays so far. I enjoyed every verse, but Keri Hilson's part should have been a little longer, and she should have changed up the verse half way through so the whole verse wasn't hitting that sharp note. I realize though she did it b/c the song goes that direction melodically toward the end. They should have put her last just before the synths come in at the end just before kanyes part. Great song though. These G.O.O.D Friday joints have been so eclectic. Even though people are always wanting the "old kanye" (whatever that means), Its great that he just keeps moving foward with inventive music.
I am B=mc2. Music is featured on MTV's Washington Heights, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, Bad Girls Club, and more. Check out the music profile at the links provided. Make sure to leave a comment. This song goes hard! Keri's verse was a lil unexpected but she did her thing. Cyhi is an interesting cat, I've only heard about him through these Kanye sessions. Still lovin Pusha T...

Even though they went hard on this one, I'm not a fan of this destructive beat.

On a first "skim" listen, I wasn't too hyped about this new GOOD Friday track, but it bangs, funny.

I'm tempted to say this is my favorite GOOD Friday song yet. If this doesn't make the album, I don't even know.

Mmm 'Christine Dior Denim Flow' still my favourite but you can't deny the catchyness and awesome flow from all three rappers. One thing I love bout Kanye's prod is that it switches up (unlike Swizz Beats) and changes slightly or largely regularly.

Definite feeling this one - the beat box stix, the eerie synths, the oddball way it goes out can see a dj playing with that - agree should have pushed Keri's out of nowhere opera singing to the end where it morphs out - Solid verses from all rappers involved.

My favourite G.O.O.D Friday as of yet, beat-wise. It snaps HARD! CyHi impressed, but I can live without Keri's vocals on this.
