Kanye West - See Me Now
Artist: Kanye West
Featuring: Beyoncé , Charlie Wilson
Producer: Kanye West, No I.D., and Lex Luger
Album: Untitled
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
Now that Drake mania’s fizzled out, Kanye West’s taken over as the rapper most likely to make the internet explode every time he releases a new song. With hip-hop nation still buzzing about his lead single Power (Power remix with Jay-Z dropping Friday, by the way), Yeezy jumped on the radio with Angie Martinez this afternoon and premiered See Me Now, a complexly produced record that didn’t make the cut for his forthcoming, incredibly anticipated “not titled Good Ass Job, maybe titled Dark Twisted Fantasy” album. Did I mention it’s complexly produced? In addition to Ye himself, mentor No I.D. and Lex Luger also put in work to craft the bouncing, vocal-sample heavy beat. Three producers? Why not two singers? Beyoncé handles the bridge and Uncle Charlie Wilson laces the hook, setting a smooth stage for Kanye to drop swag rhyme after swag rhyme. On a purely lyrical level it’s not the man’s best work – is there even one truly memorable line? - but even his throwaway joints should set off an avalanche of discussion in three…two…one…

This record would have been a perfect fit for Ye's "College Dropout" album. Instant vintage, if you will.
While we are being told that it won't make the final cut off Ye's untitled new album, it is easily more enjoyable than most filler tracks your average artist would throw together. With that said, not many artists get Beyonce, Charlie Wilson, and No I.D. to collab on a record. |

Damn if a track this good didn't make the cut for the album, I can't wait till the rest comes out.. With star power like this on "filler" I'm anticipating a classic, Kanye definitely has it in him

Yeah I figured that it wouldn't make the final cut. While this track is nowhere near "Power" it is still very good. My only gripes with it were Beyonce who I thought was annoying. Otherwise still a very above average track compared to most stuff out there. This would make a great bonus track in my opinion.

For a track that didnt make the album cut, this is dope. Production is nice, Lex Luger is gettin some big hitters spittin over his production at the moment. Kanye came with it on the mic & the two featured artist fitted in quite nicely. The songs a little to long, though other then that, its very enjoyable.
What happened to the remix of 'Power' being a all Chicago record? I was hearing Lupe, Common & Twista were goin to be featured. |

@dillon_68 the blog about the song obviously states it doesn't make the album, but underwhelming? A song that blew up internet searches and hip-hop sites and is a throwaway song, pretty overwhelming to me.

Learn something new everyday like, "if you fall on the concrete thats your asphalt"
Agreed Dj Baer that Beyonce was a bit annoying. Maybe thats why this didn't make the cut? haha kidding, but enjoyable track overall |

I'm gonna give the song a 4 alone just for him saying "feel like one of them old R. Kelly joints right"... paying homage to the King of R&B baby! It does sound like a vintage Kayne joint. Doesn't quite jump out in the same manner as "all falls down" but will catch on

It's okay, I can see why this is being left off his new album....though I see Def Jam doing a backflip judging the positive reaction this one has been getting...plus who in their right mind wouldn't a include a collabo with Beyonce on their album???!
Maybe its the poor quality mix....or maybe it's just not that special....hopefully when a better version comes out I'll like it more because it has a nice vibe. I'm sure Kanye can do better, I'm expecting big things from this album! I also agree with Z, this has that College Dropout vibe.... |

I think this track is pretty average...it's alright if it was one of the weaker songs on Kanyes new album...
Maybe it'll become better after a few listens! |

I have to hand it to Ye, there's almost no one else in the game who could garner this kind of interest from a throwaway track. I basically laid out my thoughts in the intro - nice track, not Kanye's best lyrically - so let me just emphasize how impressed I am with this, especially given the context.
If people aren't feeling the Beyonce contribution, it's probably because hearing her sing about her "ni**as" getting out of jail just doesn't sound right. Tell me I'm wrong. |

I think the production on here would have been nice if they eliminated a few elements... As it stands, I just think its too jumbled up sounding. Kanye had pretty good lyrics on here and Beyonce ALWAYS sounds good and Charlie Wilson sounds great on the chorus. I will definitely throw this into rotation, but there's just one or two; too many elements in the beat that they could have done without... It hurts the track a lot for me.

At first I thought there was something missing. Now I'm really settling in with it. The song, despite having a totally instant infectious melody, is a grower. Once it gets that final Master treatment, and I can see it being popular with non hip-hop heads as well.
Flossy but smart, cocky with equal doses of humor, quotable rhymes from Yeezy, a killer double hook, even though the change of vocals from Beyonce to Uncle Charlie is bit jarring, mainly due to Beyonce's slightly yelling delivery. And the production successfully covers the sound of soulful sample while managing to maintain a catchy, new age programmed-drums bounce. Now, no one is really saying these are Kanye's best or 'album of the year' verses but one thing for certain, as a listener you can easily tell Kanye must've had a lot of fun writing and recording these lyrics. Oh who am I fooling, the main reason I'm loving this is... Charlie Wilson + Kanye West = I don’t even know where to start with the stanning. There are very few artists (that I will ever admit) can outdo Kanye West vocals on the same track. And one of them is Uncle Charlie. He could be singing off a cereal box and my rating would be... |

Not completely bad it deinitely has a decent beat, which you would expect with three producers
I'll admit I've never been Kanye's greatest fan but i just wasn't feelin this - average lyrics and it was a poor attempt at a hip hop and R&B cross. It is a throaway track in fairness but just underwhelming in general |

Ye laid down some hot lyrics, but this track just feels too crowded for me to really enjoy it. Probably a 'too many chefs' situation, what with 3 producers and two additional vocalists. Loved the 'Imma let you finish' dig at the end, tho.

This song growns on you, but too busy to busy to be in rotation status. Less Luger (he's killing it right now),less Uncle Charlie (he is a legend) and more Beyonce and we would've had a banger. Hopefully this shows up on a deluxe addition.
