Kanye West - Good Friday
Artist: Kanye West
Featuring: Common , Pusha T , Kid CuDi , Big Sean
Producer: Kanye West
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
Since Crooked I ushered in the idea of the “weekly series”, nobody has truly capitalized on the concept like Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Fridays series. Unlike last week’s solo entry, Devil in a New Dress, this week’s edition sees ‘Ye bringing in almost the entire G.O.O.D. family for a track titled…wait for it…Good Friday. Over what sounds like a reworked sample of Biz Markie’s Just a Friend by Kanye himself, the record also squeezes in a crooning KiD CuDi with backing Charlie Wilson vocals, a quick strike from Common, a couple of bars from Yeezu himself and a solid verse from Big Sean. However, the major name that sells this track is newest G.O.O.D. member Pusha T. Yes, Neighborhood Push of the Clipse. The younger Thornton brother sounds right at home over dusty piano keys, mixing punchlines about Stephon Marbury and folks who aren’t as real as they rhyme. This is as joyful as we’ve heard Kanye in a while and as these leaks prove, he’s been cooking up something serious for that still untitled album due later this year.

For my money, this is as good as any leak we've heard from Ye to date (in this series, of course). I would have liked to hear Common spit a little longer, but everything works.

The production here is pretty good, Ye has definitely been on-point lately in his production. Lyrically, everyone did good, Yeezy, Big Sean, and Pusha T (who fit really well). I would have LOVED to hear more Common on this! Overall, it's a solid track, just like the past G.O.O.D. Friday songs have been. I have new motivation for friday to get here every week...

I was feelin all aspects of the production, but I felt like they were a bit unbalanced. Common sounded the most at home on the track, and it would have been nice to hear more. KiD CuDi was a great fit on the hook and Big Sean did his thing as always. It was both wierd and intriguing to hear Pusha T on this track, not sure how I feel about that.

The line up speaks for itself. The track was hot, but something about it seemed out of place to me. Cudi on the hook was a good look. Pusha came hard as expected ,as did Big Sean, and Kanye is Kanye, so this deserves a solid four.

The background picture on the album cover image is rather inappropriate...
This is a solid line-up and everyone delivers nicely. This is something I would certainly bump on a personal level |

Am I the only one who thinks this is pretty average for Kanye?
I mean it's still a good track but if it had been on college dropout this would've been one of the weakest tracks... I'm just sayin... |

This is a monster of a track, Big Sean had the best verse in my opinion.

Unlike a lot of the other GOOD Friday offerings it sounds like Kanye's taking things a lot less seriously here, which is a good thing. It really sounds like he's just enjoying making music, and while I have to agree with Z and wish Common was more prominent, if you're not feeling this you're just a hater.

Big Sean definitely shouldn't have been permitted to spit that verse. If I was Mr. West, I would've made a judgement call and told him to redo it or not be on it.

I really like this joint right here from Kanye and the crew. Ye has been consistently putting out good music since the start of "G.O.O.D. Friday's" and hopefully this is what we should expect from Ye's next album.

This great song I can't wait to hear the G.O.O.D. music compilation album. CuDI sounds great on this and Pusha T and Big Sean did their thing.

TGIF and it's only Thursday! Kanye has come through once again. There's nothing to not love about this track. More common would have been nice on this one but can't be picky with a song as solid as this. Definitely looking forward to the album drop.

I predict Kanyes Next album will be his best yet, he's the mainstream hip-hop that's real. He should do some shit with The Roots and black milk.
