For weeks there have been rumors circulating that R. Kelly would be joining Mr. West on a remix to Kanye’s new single, Flashing Lights. Well, the rumors are true, sort of. Instead of actually jumping in the studio together, say in their shared hometown of Chicago, R. Kells merely scooped up the track and laid some new (crazy) vocals over the top. Call it a remix if you’d like, but the reality of this studio-manufactured unofficial release is that it provides a platform for the trial-bound R. Kelly to once again brag about his sex appeal, wealth, and superhuman talents. West plans to release the video to Flashing Lights, which was shot prior to his mother’s passing, before the end of the month.
R. Kelyy is the best R&B recording artist to sing as if he is rapping. Raheem Devaughn released a similar remix to "Flashing Lights" a couple week ago where he also laid down an extensive intro verse and backdrops throughout the song. R. Kelly's ability to continue to put out quality songs/remixes despite his personal problems is awesome. Almost twenty years in the game and still going strong. The video for this joint is going to be crazy. Hey Z, I like the new "Add To Your DJ Booth" feature!
I can’t see why this is being criticized. I think it’s a good remix, Kells was good and this is as good as the original. Ya’ll should be talkin about the song not Kells personal life.
If this was merely a decent studio patch job, imagine if both men actually hopped in the studio and did a song together? Speaking of which.... the Chi-Town Bosses have YET to actually collaborate on a song.
I'm with Tone. Kells' already hit legend status, and now for the strech, even with his problems. The guy is crazy as hell, but you just can't help but love him, and you also can't deny that he has an amazing singing voice.
This is sure a weird Mix of artists. I would have never expected this; and that adds to the hotness of the track. This is FIRE with R.Kelly on it. He is a musical genius. Outside of music, it might be a different story. But this is music, and its hot!
im sorry kels, but get the @*#$! off this track, beat is still one of the hottest out there but kelly should stick to his own @*#$!...it gets a 2 just because kels murders this song in a BAD way
I don't know. Kels seems to ruin this, and not so much because the vocals were wack. It just seemed so unorganzied...because it wasn't an ACTUAL remix between the two in the studio
i think its dope. kells always knows how speak his mind in a fresh, different way. yeah, i love the original, but with kells on it, it could only get better.
Like Kells said “MF wanna talk about me man.” The lyrics and how he sings it adds a special touch to it. “Kasha told Kim that Lisa said Mike said Kells doin’ drugs now, man, he a crackhead/ Y’all mean to tell me y’all believe that?!” But I do be asking where the weed at?”
Easy killa… and I already got my money right right right.
