Kanye West - Don't Stop!
Artist: Kanye West
Featuring: CRS
Producer: The Neptunes, Kanye West
Album: Good Friday Music Series
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
Kanye West’s latest G.O.O.D Music Friday release, Don’t Stop!, featuring Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco (collectively known as CRS [Child Rebel Soldiers]) was actually recorded during ‘Ye’s infamous Glow in the Dark Tour a few years back. So while this record isn’t exactly fresh out the oven, the fast paced and perfectly balanced production from The Neptunes and Mr. West fits right in with anything you’d hear off these artists’ upcoming individual albums. Pharrell starts off the hookless song spitting at a caliber I didn’t even know he could reach. He had to step it up to precede Lupe, who bodied every bar he was allotted, catching your attention not only with clever, rapid fire lines, but by stretching out the “iiiiiiii” sound that keeps you rewinding the verse to catch every reference. The start of Kanye’s closing verse plays well off Lupe’s, and should inspire a few smirks with plenty witty wordplay. For me, it ranks somewhere in the middle of the G.O.O.D Friday release history, and has me amped to cop Kanye’s new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, due out Nov. 22.

I never used to think that we'd get an entire CRS project. After Kanye's recent free music binge... I wouldn't put it past the trio to drop something before the end of 2011. If Jay and Ye could create an EP for fun, why not CRS (unless Atlantic tells Lupe "No.")
Not my favorite record from this Ye Series, but super enjoyable. Hopefully all these cuts don't overshadow the release of "Runaway." |

crazy line up (but still can't compete of some of Ye's "older" G.O.O.D entries).

Pharrell's not too bad, but Lupe absolutely destroys this. Kanye too, but I say Lupe had the best verse here. Enjoyable production. It's great to hear from CRS once again!

Sadly label politics will ensure CRS never comes out with an album (come on Z, you know that won't happen), which is a goddamn shame because after Everybody Nose, Us Placers and now this hip-hop's missing out on what clearly could have been one of the greatest groups in hip-hop history. I'm completely serious.

Always ready to hear a Kanye/Lupe collabo. Heavy rotation for me!

Its a great to have heavyweights behind a new face that can really stand along with them. This gives me the same feeling that I got with Drake in "forever" and with Kid Cudi in "poker face". This is risky if you don't have the skill to stand up and be counted- but CRS brings it well between Lupe, Pharell and of course Kanye.

Reminds me of a late 80's early 90's classic posse joint like 'The Symphony' or 'Buddy' kept expecting Rakim or Kool G. Rap to drop a verse - is G.O.O.D. hip-hop - classic back and forth rhyme slanging - so unheard of in towards gangsta braggio movement - and the horns! Yesss! Makes the cut a banger 4 me!

You don't have to be my shrink or share a bed with me to know my fondness for Kanye West's music but for the last month-and-a-half, I have officially gone CRAZY. This exactly is one of the reasons.
Production is a KILLER!! A Latin-American rhythm drenched in an overwhelmingly sinister synth programming, full and convoluted. There’s also vocal pieces in the background which finishes of the Latin-esque groove of the joint. The whole sound feels strikingly new, even though its ingredients are so identifiable. On the front, all three manages to put their own stamp on the song. No hook. It’s four minutes of dope lyrical conceit as each one carries the momentum of the previous, and as they tell you they bodies it, they really does. I'm diggin' it to the fullest!! |

Overrated.
Beat - Too busy and repetitive. 2/5 Lyrics - Some good rhymes, word play. But over all its very light on "content". 2/5 Just not feeling it. 100% forgettable. And not worthy of the top of the chart. |

Yeezy never ceases to amaze me with his creativity, this album is a breath of fresh air...love it when artist flip the script and think outside the box...with that said, another fine performance for each artists on this record, wish it could keep spinning, but all things mus come to an end. :-(
