Call me crazy, but I think Kanye West may finally have learned to let go; on his latest G.O.O.D. Fridays leak, the hip-hop megastar takes a new approach to the familiar breakup theme, telling the girl he loves “Don’t Look Down” as she rises, phoenix-like, from the ashes of their failed relationship. In addition to revisiting the subject matter of his last full-length, West employs Swizzy (and The Individualz) to refine the 808s sound here, flipping a mournful piano-brass-synth arrangement into something of a hip-hop funeral march with the help of some rolling snares. As usual, a few high-profile collaborators are along for the ride; flanking West’s overdriven middle bars are contributions from Chi-town mainstay Lupe Fiasco, who makes full use of the flight/flame imagery in his opener and Big Sean, who brings the cut to a close with a few melodic flows of his own. Last but not least, Mos Def hops on board to deliver an appropriately lofty chorus – no guest bars this time, unfortunately. Has Kanye scored yet another G.O.O.D. Friday hit? You tell me. Either way, you’ll be missing out if you don’t pick up a copy of his fifth LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, when it hits stores Nov. 22.

I enjoyed this record a lot. Had Mos Def given us more than just a chorus contribution (who else got geeked when they saw his name on the promo art work?) I might have given the record a 5-star rating. As if, Ye will have to settle for a 4 haha.

Can anyone imagine how great a Lupe/Kanye collabo CD would be? That CD would be amazing and able to get features from guys like Jay-Z, J. Cole, Big Sean, Cudi, Mos Def, Common, and a lot of others who would die to be on an album with, in my opinion, the 2 best artist in the game right now. Love this song, but i agree with DJ Z that Mos Def verse woulda made it better but i still can't knock it from classic status.

Definitely feeling this one. I agree, if Mos Def had a verse on this it would be hard not to call this a near-classic. Lupe killed it and Big Sean was a great addition. Only problem I have with the track was Kanye's part. The distorted effect he added on to his voice was a little unbearable. Still very good, nonetheless.

I just realized how clever Ye is when i told my boy i am buying his album. damn.... this is amazing music! I do agree with the absence of a Mos Def verse, I don't mind his singing voice but it wouldn't hurt letting him spit acouple bars.

Man Big Sean killed it! Lupe Fiasco was a sweet saweet touch. He opened up perfectly with that slow relaxed flow. Kanye wasn't that effective but his awesome prod makes up for it :p dope!

This is one of my favorite of the GOOD Music storm. I just dusted off the Ecstatic a couple days ago, so I was especially feeling Mos Def's chorus. Lupe and Big Sean were on on point! Ye was alright, but the voice distortion was a little odd. |

The production on here is SICK. I really like the sound of the whole track. Sick Chorus. Lupe did his thing in the beginning. Big Sean was OK. Kanye was good too. I'll agree that this is a BANGER! (Nice mini-movie over the weekend as well Ye!)

I really don't like the chorus, I feel like I should be at a pow wow whenever I hear it. Can someone please explain to me why everyone is on the Ye train right now, I just can't see why everyone is loving the stuff he is putting out. I'm giving it three stars and not two, because I like Lupe's verse.

Hahaha, gotta love when critics critique music who have no idea where music comes from and why. SOMMI, hahaha your a funny chick. The beat is dope, the lyrics are dope and the message is dope. Swizzy could have chilled out on the distortion a little or a lotta bit, but overall a very good song even without MOS shreddin a verse. I agree with STLsFRESHPRINCE to the T. Wocka Flocka, blended with solja boy wit a little bit of Gucci bumpin in Sommi's wip... Please turn off MTV honey, your poisoning your mind.

I just love the production, sounds like a "hip-hop funeral march". Lupe and Sean delivered on this track but Kanye's voice effects keep me from giving this joint a 5 star. Mos Def is MOST DEFINITELY a rapper too. I'm still bumpin' this sh*t though.
