Kandid McFly - Stage Fright
Artist: Kandid McFly
Producer: 8 Attack
Album: The Opening Act
Label: Unsigned
Man, it’s been a great week to be sick (thanks for the balloons, whoever sent them), mostly because I’ve found that the healing properties of Booth music are up there with Chicken Soup for the Soul and Oprah (um…not that I would know). For this installment of healthy music, I give you Ohio emcee Kandid McFly and his DJBooth debut Stage Fright, a somber testament to how hard the hip-hop life really is for an up-and-coming artist. Production wise the piano-laced beat does well to keep the energy of the track running (provided by 8 Attack), as McFly puts his heart on his sleeve, sharing his trials in the music industry with lines like, “Sometimes I want to quit, but kids look up to McFly/ don’t look up to me, shorty, look up in the sky.” If you liked this track, be sure to check out more soulful comfort music on his next project, The Opening Act (presented by Mr. Peter Parker), due out this May.

The first thing I thought when I pressed play was... is this going to sound like the score to the "NBA Cares" commercial? However, 10 seconds in and that thought vanished.
The mix here is a little low, but technical issues aside I really like this record. The alt rock influence is dope and the transitions in and out of the chorus is well done. Looking forward to more material from Kandid. |

"Hey Chuck, this is your cousin Marvin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you been looking for, listen to this!"
(Round of applause for my incredibly apt Back to the Future quote. See, his name is McFly, and...nevermind). More importantly, this is some good ish. McFly's got a quality flow that everyone can relate to, and I know some people will love the spiritual overtones. I'm definitely down for more from McFly. A high 3 stars. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go buy some plutonium from the Libyans in the Pleasant Valley mall parking lot. |

Kandid’s lyrics bring substance to the song while piano driven production provides the perfect complement, and I instantly was taken with that powerful hook, it sealed the deal.

Just another reason why execs need to stop with the ambian n wake up...too much talent gets passed because they aren't robotrons, can we start the movement because passion n fire like this needs to be burning my speakers on the regular.
