K. Sparks - Identity Crisis
Producer: Kurser
Album: Manic Mondays (Week 46)
Label: Double Up Ent.
Over the course of the Booth favorite’s Manic Mondays series, countless readers have made comments to to effect of, “K Sparks could take any rapper in the game,” but that assertion has never truly been put to the test—until now. On entry #46, Sparks finds himself suffering from a bit of an Identity Crisis putting his skills as an impressionist to test by adopting the styles of eight of the biggest names in the biz. Jumping from one rapper to the next over Kurser‘s upbeat mix of electric guitar and arpeggiated synths, K Sparks focuses more on flow than pitch-perfect, Roll Call-style vocal imitation, but quite a few of his impressions are on the money regardless—his Asher Roth, in particular, is hilariously dead on, and his Kanye is nearly as head-turning. The rapper fares a little worse when he tries to step into Slim Shady‘s shoes, but his Lose Yourself-referencing bars will still put smiles on fans’ faces (and his impression inspired me to track down Dave Chappelle’s classic “Spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti,” parody, which is still as hysterical as ever). In any case, there are more hits than misses here—I’ll leave it to you, the readers, to judge the rest.

That Asher Roth is some good stuff!
I know how excited K was when he sent this over to me, so I am sure people are going to be just as thrilled after first listen. |

Kurser spazzed on this production! It's so different, eclectic, yet melodic.
THIS WAS SUCH A CREATIVE TRACK! Hahaha! I challenge K. Sparks to a Cam'Ron Impression contest! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOQ5TSqoe7A (skip to 5:09) This ish is an instant classic. His Asher and Cam impressions were the best. |

Very creative idea. K. Sparks is crazy, man. I think Asher was the best one, like some of you have said, but they were all enjoyable. The production was cool too.

Sparks is one of the most ridiculous dudes doing anything at the moment. I mean not just his ability but his creativity is enlightening to Hip Hop's future.

That was sick! I liked how he'd change an impersonation through the verse, was throwing me off, and I'd have to catch back on.

This beat is downright nasty, I also can't believe he doesn't have a major label yet, this dude has some great stuff going on. Impressions are okay, but I could still listen to this all day.
