Sparks is well on his way to achieving his stated goal of spitting about “every possible topic;” lately though, it seems like he’s also angling to put his lyrically-driven stamp on every hip-hop subgenre under the sun—with last week’s Bright Lights, he proved it possible to craft a club banger you can think and drink to, and on installment number 35, he gives all would-be hip-rockers a similar wakeup call, demonstrating that guitar-heavy beats and Hard-hitting lyricism are two great tastes that taste great together. Skrazey backs the emcee’s punchline-driven braggadocio with the brand of bluesy riff-rock that set the standard for swagger well before the word “swagger” became a hip-hop cliché, and the combination could hardly feel more natural.
