K. Michelle - You Should've Killed Me
Artist: K. Michelle
Producer: Cool & Dre
Album: Pain Medicine
Label: Atlantic Records
There will always be artists who expect everything to come easily, either throwing a tantrum or falling into a deep depression if they don’t get their way (my mom likes to call these prima donnas “pop-tarts”). Of course, one needs only listen to K. Michelle‘s music for proof that she does not fall into that category. As the singer demonstrated on previously-featured singles Can’t Go On and Self Made, she’s all about working hard and taking responsibility for her actions. On this new track, making its premiere right here in the Booth, Michelle exults in her hard-earned success, telling all those who hoped that she’d fall off, “You Should’ve Killed Me.” Rick Ross, another artist experienced in proving the naysayers wrong, contribute a memorable hook, and Cool & Dre deliver a beat reminiscent of their work on ‘08 Best of the Booth staff pick My Life. Watch for K. Michelle’s debut album, Pain Medicine, to hit stores this September; in the meantime, those interested in hearing more of the up-and-comer’s story should stay tuned for her forthcoming, Booth-exclusive In The Mix interview.

This production is the stepdaughter of The Game's "Hate It or Love It" - also produced by Cool N Dre.
When listening to this in the morning, someone walking by the studio said: "Is that Beyonce?" Enough said. This sounds good. |

That woman is fine!!! She has some passion in her voice as well. Beauty and substance. Between this lady and Melanie Fiona, the booth is Paradise 2night! Her strength is evident all through this, what a powerful hook. For every battered woman, this is a song they can relate to and feel empowered, I only hope the right ladies hear this song, and find ways to escape their horror.

@Z: I'm positive you meant "My life", right? ;)
POWERFUL song! This woman's vocals demand respect! I really liked the rap chorus idea, it's nice to see it the other way around for a change (instead of an R&B hook on a rap song). Not only was it fresh, Rick Ross really made it HOT! Cool & Dre are just amazing, even though this reminds "My Life" a lot, you can count on them to give you that epic sound. |

OH MY GOSH! I need this women in my life. That pictures is so what is up right now!
I agree...it reminds me of "My Life" as far as the production goes, but it's a more sped up version. I don't see why Rick Ross needed to be on this, but whatever. It's undeniable. |

this is real decent compared to her last effort "Self Made ft. Trina". I also don't see a reason why this song would need a rap feature. the writer should have put more effort into singing verses to make it exceptional and make it HER record. generally speaking: songs/albums need way less features. its outta control already

She sounds fantastic on here and hits you hard with a punched-in flow that hardly wavers...
I think the hook by Ross is a remake from an old freestyle track ... cant point it rite now... but that only added the hotness as he sounds dope! on this beat. Michelle's got a hit with this song. |

Wow. She brings crazy energy and passion in her vocals that matches the hot production from Cool & Dre. At first I wasn't loving Ricky Ross on here, but I'm liking the interchange between the two. Still fire after ten spins.
Damn. |

Maybe,After I Listen to It A Couple Of Times I'll Think It's Hot.Her Photo Is Definitely HOT!!! Although She Has Talent and a Gift,I Am disappointed. When You Consider Memphitz Gift of Finding and Securing HITZ,This One Seems A Little Lackluster to Say The Least.A Hit,Is Just That A Hit.It Did'nt Stir My Soul Or Make Me Groove.I'm Not A Wagon Jumper Or A Hater.I Say Go Back To The Studio,And Give This Sista What She has earned & deserves "A HIT" Record.Or I Need Better Speakers and or Hearing LOL. I'm Playing Again To See If It's A Banger???

Raydawggg, nice way to derail the train...
This is motivational right here...If you can't hear the pure soul/groove, then I think you might want to see your otologist (ear doctor) again... Plus K herself posted this on her Twitter and Myspace blog-bonus points for that! |

K. Michelle straight snaps in this track. you can feel the passion and realness while you're listenin to the track. Ross' part was a great idea, and the production is near-epic. This sounds like hit material to me, I would watch out for this track to blow up.

Very impressive she sound like abit Beyonce. U can always expect the Production duo Cool N Dre to make banger beats, plus it was unpredictable to have the ross rap the chorus which i liked.

i feel this is a rediculously GREEZY track...gotta say, grew on me in a second..but man, i think i understand her picture, she's trying to show the "nakedness" of her life im guessing...not the type of girl i would expect to enter the scene, but does it really have to overly sexually appealing? just saying, but anyway, nice pic and SICK song...just wish the boss wasnt there, but he did aii
