What? It’s been over two weeks since we last featured a fresh track from K. Sparks?! Say it ain’t so! Today, the Booth’s favorite Queens representative makes his return with EP leak Blue Swing, a cut on which he informs the world that he’s got a “new thing.” Fortunately for all of us who loved Sparks’ style just the way it was, though, it doesn’t seem to be very different from his old thing – in fact, you could call this record “vintage K. Sparks,” if you were so inclined. Here, the smoky jazz-piano production of T-Mos sets the stage for the emcee’s reflections on life, death, music and race; heavy stuff, to be sure, but he tackles the subject matter with characteristically engaging lyricism and dextrous flows. Those digging Blue Swing can find more hot beats and rhymes from Sparks and T-Mos on their YnotMyDream-sponsored Social Studies EP, set to hit the ‘net sometime in late May or early June. In the meantime, stay on the lookout for this track’s official remix, coming soon.

What is there to say about K. Sparks that hasn't already been said? Seriously, how many emcees do you know who could sound compelling, alive, and anything but immensely boring over this light, jazzy production from T Mos? It's fine, I'll wait while you give it some thought and include your answer in your feedback...
And speaking of swings, I need to find a local park - I miss the good ol days. |

K Sparks!! It's good to see him back in the booth. I've been a fan since Super Senior, and this track doesn't disappoint.
He brings his classic, relaxed flow that eases effortlessly into spitting lines left and right. The beat is equally relaxed, with some jazzy piano and subtle drum work that'll have you loungin about in no time. It's already on repeat for me. Check it out right now!! @DJ Z, go find yourself a swing, but make sure to bing your mp3 player with you to set the mood. |

K. sparks remains one of my favorite artists, and I love his definitive old-school, jazz, classical type style. But he's one artist that I think is only gonna get better with time, and I can't wait to hear him experiment with new styles, He could do anything.

Now I don't mean to get sentimental
But I could rip a mean instrumental Fill up the street full of bodies using hate for weapons Pull up your seat see we living in the great depression Racism still subtle but above us When dark skinned models rarely grace the magazine covers Now we could end the story right there That's my Lupe shit, my life a nightmare Cruising through the galaxy just like a slave master Pomade and a brush could maybe get the waves faster False teachings and false hopes that blind us We let materialism tend to define us Like what you had, made you glad, made you sad All contingent upon the basis of the things you never had Into the forefront lyrically the more want It's Hip Hop in the flesh and never less son Now I don't mean to get sentimental My cousin Krystal in the Hospital And see I wasn't gonna see hers what I tell you We barely speak at all so I ain't really feel compelled to And so I went to see her ID why g I see in her arm the IV Sky sea try me contemplating why she Disintegrating and penetrating my eyes see Now we could end the story right there That's my Lupe shit, my life a nightmare Talk about the blues with the stance to catch Take a walk up in my shoes I got the pants to match In the mainstream things seem underground the world before me It's like I'm caught in the middle the shit is purgatory Cuz in the underground I'm heavily respected eclectic Protected projected Into the forefront lyrically the more want It's Hip Hop in the flesh and never less son |

I'd never heard K. Sparks before this song, and after hearing it I have no idea why I hadn't. I really like the jazziness of it, and that drumbeat works perfectly with his voice.
@DJ Z enjoy your time at the park. |

I was going to say it feels like its been a minute since we have had a K. Sparks track hit the booth.
Right from the beginning I can tell this has that classic Sparks vibe to it. Love that vintage piano background along with the cymbals. Has a true hip-hop feel to it. Another batch of great verses by K. Sparks. He never ceases to amaze me on how well rounded he can make any song. He makes the hook catchy as hell and at the same time lays down some memorable verses. Over this production, K. Sparks really does what he does best, spit. |

This is the first track I've put on tonight that my girlfriend actually enjoys (and that says a lot. This girl is @*#$! picky.)
K. Sparks does it again. What more can I say? On a sidenote, shout out to T-Mos for the beautiful production. |

Damn this dude is so consistent. He killed this beat, something A Tribe Called Quest would of rapped over back in the '90s. I hope I don't have to wait two weeks again for another song from him.

K Dot Sparks in the mother @*#$! building. Didn't even have to press the play button to know that this was gonna be a banger.
Been a fan since I first heard Sunshine. Sparks over the last year and a half has quickly become one of my top favorite artists. Guys like him are the reason I'm happy I found the booth when I did. Lyrically, no one can touch Sparks. T-Mos is a great producer. Loved his work on previous tracks and Blue Swing is of course no exception. Real jazzy, laid back production plus K. Sparks sets this high on my replay value. Looking forward to the Social Studies EP. Solid. |

K. Sparks seems to be more focused with his topics and less scattered with his lyrics. The results is a more relatable and accessable flow that keeps your attention more than some of his past works. What i like most about sparks, are his smooth jazz beat selections which always set a cool tone on anything he does.

Ever since his Manic Mondays series I've been jamming out to him. Sparks is a beast on the mic and even if this production isn't the most flashy or uptempo he still manages to kill it. I sware I have never seen so many tracks by a single artist get 4 stars or above...and it will continue with this one!

When I first heard the piano in the beginning, I was like ugh this isn't going anywhere. Well, the lyrics indeed shut me up. I love the lupe spin on this which was done very well. The sentimental part of this song speaks of truth and spits a story. It's a good song, needs a bit better beat however. Enjoy K. Sparks productions, could've done a little bit better I believe.

haha he said 2 weeks......wait???? seriously wow damn to me it felt just like this winter over here in Wisconsin WAYYYYYYY TOOOO LONG.
here he goes all in you really get the vibe on this record its as if he closed his eyes and imagined the lines for this track. thats my "lupe shit, thats my nightmare too catch" "its hip-hop in the flesh and never less" i like the simplicity of the beat, it doest want too take over but the flow and the beat work together like a team (whisper: someone tell Kobe) its got a old touch of 20s type beat mixed in with the drums thats really enjoyable anyways thanks to K. sparks for introducing me too the blue swing, ill make sure to pay it more visits 4 stars, you oughta be made too dig your on grave nowadays if you rate this anyless so im too scared too do that, plus he's earned it. |

The beat is sooo smooth. I like the delivery too. Especially with this being a jazz beat. Def didn't expect the beat to go that direction. I'm glad it did though.

This beat is alright. Not a big fan of K. Sparks. Not sure why, but every time I listen to him, it seems too boring. I have probably only liked 1 song of the like the 40 he released on Mondays.

That's it, I've praised this duo so much, that from now on I'll just mention details: my favorite part is when you can hear the strings in the very background for a second! =) Watch me tell you about these details better once I get my MONSTER ”Tour” In-Ear Headphones! ;) In ear... that's how you should listen to a song like this for the first time! |

idk why but im not really feelin Mr. K. Sparks. HIs lyrics are great, don't get me wrong but he seems so old school. The only song i liked with him was off a Young So--excuse me--MIke Dreams mixtape (Counting Sheep MIxtape)
IF i heard a fresher sound I would appreciate him more! |
