K. Dot believes in unconditional love. On his new single, Hater Love, the Compton native makes a tongue-in-cheek confession about loving his haters, without whose efforts he would find himself uncontested, unknown, and unable to make them look whack. And that’s half of what rap is all about, right? With a delivery that sounds eerily similar to Lil Wayne’s and a mean street drawl, K. Dot sure is talented enough to be hated by those that aren’t. Hater Love is produced by Cool and Dre, whose bright fugue of horns and crip-walking piano give the beat a real West Coast feel. If you’re feeling the track or just want some advice on how to do deal with the cynics, check out K. Dot’s album, The Me.
The production is straight, but it doesn't bang like it should. The vocals sound way too loud too. This dude sounds like a really low-grade version of a cross between Wayne and Andre 3000. (Not lyrically, just delivery wise). LOL. I don't think I can get down with one. Not at all.
It sounds like to me that K. Dot is actually trying to mimic Lil Wayne's flow and pronunciation style. Not the best Cool & Dre beat in the world, but atleast it is the only characteristic of the track that is purely original.
K. Dot as an emcee clearly has some work to be done. Cool & Dre on the beat sound outstanding (as usual) and overall the song embraces the current "the world is hating on me, but I'll get over it by penning a new song" trend. I need to hear more...
