J.Y. - Say Yeah
Artist: J.Y.
Featuring: XV , Michael Charles
Producer: Vertical Jones
Album: Hiring Process Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
With the heat index reaching 127 in the South today, I thought hell and my neighborhood were going to be the only things on fire. Thankfully, I was wrong. New Jersey native J.Y. is back at it again in the Booth, and while his last entry Tell Me What It Is (Remix) left Booth-heads a little underwhelmed, he more than makes up for it with his latest leak, Say Yeah. Vertical Jones does well on the track with his new age synth/fader production, while J.Y. pushes his craftily baritoned bars to another level. The hook from feature Michael Charles seems to work well with the mellow beat and Y’s flow, but it’s Warner Bros. signee X.V. who’s truly the shining light on the track from the get go, dropping lines like, “They was on the fence about me from the beginning / good, because that’s where I’m aiming every inning.” If you’re warming up to J.Y.’s sound on this track, be sure to keep a lookout for his latest project, the Hiring Process Mixtape, dropping July 28.

I'm still amazed that rappers and singers like J.Y. and Justin Garner still remain unsigned. Ofcourse X.V. does his thing on the guest verse and a nice job by Michael Charles on the hook. His voice blends well with the production.

Charles captures my attention for the top, but XV and JY (its two-lettered artist dat today!) sustain. Def the most enjoyable record I've heard from J.Y. to date.
PS. Dude threw one heck of a release party for himself at Santos Party House in New York on Monday evening! |

Can I be real? If XV had handled every verse this would have been a classic, but that's not a shot at JY. The man definitely delivers, he just doesn't have that extra gear here that Vizzy does.
But I don't want to end on a low note. This is a dope tracks, props to everyone involved. |

Chorus isn't bad, but XV blew JY out the water. Khalifa won breakthrough artist this year, but expect XV to make that list next year. Hopefully he will do better with Warner than Wiz did.

X.V. has enough lines to keep this on replay.

XV should have done this track track by himself with a female single to handle hook duties. Then you have something. this is just....
