Justin Timberlake - Suit & Tie
Artist: Justin Timberlake
Featuring: Jay-Z
Producer: Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Jerome Harmon
Album: The 20/20 Experience
Label: RCA
It’s been a long time since Justin Timberlake provided the world with his unique brand of Pop/R&B/Swag. How long, exactly? Oh, how about six years, four months and two days. Or as we all like to call it, “long enough.” That all changed today, however, as JT proudly makes his return to music with Suit & Tie, a Timbaland-produced single that serves as the first offering from the multi-talented artist’s long-awaited third studio album. So, how do you follow-up a Diamond-certified sophomore LP (FutureSex/LoveSounds)? For starters, you return to the studio with the production genius that crafted your sound as a solo artist a full decade ago. Enter, the aforementioned Timbaland, who along with Jerome Harmon crafts an elegant, jazzy production for Timberlake and his upper register vocals to shine. Known to make a grand entrance or two himself, guest artist Jay-Z joins Suit & Tie on the back end, adding his signature cool to the effort over a tweaked, slightly more mellowed out production change-up. While no details are yet available on when The 20/20 Experience will be released, one thing is for certain: Justin is dressed up and his fans are ready to go.

This sounds sooo smooth. Definitely intrigued me from the start and now has me wondering what JT will offer on his upcoming album. Welcome back Justin!

An interesting track. The beat switch up is fresh, he seems to be able to tread the line between pop and Hip Hop/R&B quite effortlessly. Very musical instrumental, it's not an obvious hit, but should smash the charts. Something different than going straight down the EDM route, which JT could've easily done and made a tonne of money in the process.
It's good hearing Jay on that slowed down, screwed up tip that people like ASAP Rocky and Drake have brought back recently. I thought that was dopest bit of the song! |

Now that Timbaland is doing Justin's whole new album, this one should good like the first one. Really fresh work on the beat by Tim and nice vocals by JT. Jay-Z is a great addition. BANGER STATUS!

I have been waiting for his return! Production is perfecto, JT always does his thing, and a Jay Z feature never hurts. It is a quality song and that fact that his fans have been deprived will help push the song even further.

Great track. Definitely looking forward to JT's next release. I'm from the generation when you were always trying to find out what Timbo, and the Neptunes were up to. They always had amazing success working with JT. I wish it didn't sound so much like Robin Thicke... Maybe Robin Thicke just sounds too much like JT, either way great track.

It was different, but Jay-Z's verse was wack, it didn't need him on the track.

Personally I think Drake or Timbaland would've been better for a verse but I think Jay-Z did a solid verse for me

I am just thrilled this is not some "in the moment" record, underscored by Dupstep or house production ha. Welcome back, Justin. It's good to have you.

I prefer JT as an actor vs an artist, but this was cool.

Since this premiered, I've seen nothing but hate and Robin Thicke comparisons on every blog. It's obvious that the majority of people today wouldn't know a good track if it slapped them across the face, so I think I'll stop searching for other's opinions to avoid my impressions being tainted. Enough ranting, about the song. Justin earns my respect for simply not jumping on the Europop and Dubstep bandwagon. He is bringing good SOUL back to the mainstream where it should be. I hope this sparks a radio evolution, a change of sound far away from what David Guetta, Lady Gaga, and other recent artists have crafted.

This song defines the rating of classic. It doesn't try to be some weak one week pop (s)hit. Justin delivers like his fans would expect. Jay was not necessary for this track, but he didn't hurt it. It was actually nice to hear Jay and Timbo working together again. And the beat was something else.
Just a shot in the dark, but am I the only one who thought this could have been a Lloyd track? |

Yes Justin Timberlake is back. I've been waiting for soo long. At the beginning of the song I was like eeh.. but as it progressed I was definitely feeling the beat. I really don't know why Jay-Z had to be in this though. He didn't do much for the track and Justin needs to make his comeback solo.. for now anyway

I really like this... but I cant get over that sonar ping in the back and it buggs me for some reason. I see the need for SOMETHING to be there but that ping in particular....

The harp in that beat reminds me something The Alchemist or Dj Premier would do.

Definitely different in a good way. Jay-Z's verse didn't seem to fit though.

Could've done without Jay-z. However, i can't let that throw down this awesome song. Hopefully drake fades out now.
