Julius Francis - One Day [Premiere]
Artist: Julius Francis
Featuring: Shane Eli
Producer: Corian Jackson
Album: Musically Infected
Label: Palm Tree Ent.
DJBooth is all about bringing people together. Think of us as the Olive Garden, only with less stale breadsticks and more fresh tunes. And better service. Uh, on second thought, I’m not sure that analogy works at all. But the point is, there’s nothing better than watching a collaborative relationship blossom between two house favorites – like, say Julius Francis and Shane Eli, who join forces on the latest leak off the former’s forthcoming LP. Making its world premiere right here in the Booth, One Day finds the NYC singer and L.A. emcee/producer busting out their smoothest sung vocals and flows in hopes of getting the chance to spend some quality time with a special lady. Corian Jackson handles production duties, serving up a percussion-heavy yet melodically mellow R&B groove that seems to suit both collaborators equally well, and the result is, to my ears, hard to resist. If you’re digging this laid-back track, you have plenty to look forward to: though Francis’ Musically Infected has yet to receive a solid drop date, Eli’s DJBooth-presented The Push will be hitting our front page on Wednesday, June 16.

There is nothing better in our profession than to hear that two talented artists were able to reconnect (both personally and musically) thanks to a mutual respect and connection with DJBooth.net. Props to Julius and Shane for doing just that.
This light, airy, and undeniably catchy tune will have quite a few readers hitting play a second time. |

Always liked francis' collabs with Sparks, and this does not disappoint. Good work! Shane Eli really delivers here too.

Julius Francis is back again with another banger! Shane Eli is a very big surprise! I just commented on his freestyle and he is cold blooded with the lyrics. I like the delivery. Julius always has the smooth vocals and Corain Jacksons percussion have an undeniable delightful sound. This maybe one of my favorites to date from Julius. Now I gotta cop The Push when it comes out.

The more I listen the more I like...this could be one of those tunes you just cant get out of your head. Love the beat, Julius does his thing and Shane definitely adds a little something extra that's much needed.

Hmmmmm....at first I wasn't sure if that oddly syncopated beat worked with the song, but by Francis' first verse had ended I decided I was feeling it. Definitely something different. With two guys this talented it'd be almost impossible to miss. Hit.

Production is proper and Ju is silky smooth plus the supernova sytlins of Shane make this track a banger. Fresh worthy track for the box, i could see this as a sweaty summer track for 2010!

The beat is nice on this. J. Francis's vocals were smooth. Shane Eli was ok on this. Wasn't really liking his flow over the beat.

The production is SICK! Kinda industrial, and tribal at the same time. Julius Frances vocals are so smooth. He has good control of the tone to his voice. Great combination here. The last song I heard by Shane Eli, I wasn't really feeling, but his flow on this is so much better. It's resparked my interest in him, and would definitley catch the Julius Frances album upon release.

Julius Francis comes through with some high-quality stuff. For starters, the production was complex and great and nicely complimented Julius' vocals. Shane Eli, even though brief, supported the track with an overall decent verse.
Definitely gotta give the MVP award to Julius though. Overall, Julius created one hell of a great track. |

this is j. francis' 3rd (i think?) feature and every time one drops it draws him out of k. sparks' enormous shadow. it helps him develop his own identity musically. although him and k. spizzy are a dream match, being by himself works as well. i barely even noticed shane on this which is saying something. very impressed

Julius sounds the same on every song. At first I thought he was an ok vaocalist. But after hearing more of his songs it just doesn't click.
