Julian Stephen - Excuses (Bounce)
Artist: Julian Stephen
Producer: KE On The Track
Album: Unreleased
Label: Unsigned
After waving his American Flag high on his last solo Booth feature, Queens emcee Julian Stephen returns to our pages with his latest song release Excuses (Bounce). The rapper sticks to his usual formula on the record, touching on the various women in his presence. Stephen is able to effortlessly flaunt his witty lyrical candor on Excuses (Bounce) as he boasts, “Got a girl named Monet, got a girl named Lisa / Bring them both together what that make? Mona Lisa.” Producer KE On The Track adds a little bounce to the record thanks to his combination of intimidating bass and spacey synths. Although Stephen’s AwkwardMoments project is set for a September 12 release, as of now Excuses (Bounce) will not be featured on the project.

Its funny - Julian seems to be one of those artists that people either love or hate. Every person who has listened to his work, either from myself or here at the Booth, seems to either really dig his sound/style or thinks he should stop rapping. I kind of personally fall into the middle of the continuum. I can see where folks are coming from - his flow is raw and unpolished, his vibe is a little all over the place, but his sound is unique enough to stand on its own. Hmmmm....

Pretty tight flow by Julian Stephen, but this just sounds like a million tracks I heard before. Nothing really stands out for me...
