Juelz Santana - Home Run
Artist: Juelz Santana
Featuring: Lil Wayne
Producer: Drumma Boy
Album: Born to Lose, Built to Win
Label: Def Jam
Approximately 47 years ago (I said approximately) Harlem heavy hitter Juelz Santana and a not-yet super famous Lil Wayne promised they’d be releasing the collabo album I Can’t Feel My Face, but label issues have shelved that project indefinitely. Determined to do something with the man, Santana has given Weezy F. hook duties on his new single Home Run, a head-nodding anthem produced by the ever-present Drumma Boy, who drops a relatively minimalistic, synth-heavy beat. For his part Juelz spits some solid though uninspired rhymes – cash and women flows are fine, but at least come up with a metaphor or two – and Weezy continues his disappointing You Know What It Is ways, eschewing some rap in favor of a mediocre at best, lightly auto-tuned chorus. In other words, Home Run is more of an infield single than a home run. The track is off Santana’s upcoming album Born to Lose, Built to Win, which currently has no set release date.

Nothing special at all for a Juelz/Wayne collabo. Juelz had a slightly different flow that was pretty impressive, but this was easily forgettable.

If you don't success at first ________.
Nice beat, but this is just not doing it for me. It's like Wayne's job here was just to carry name weight. They honestly don't know what to do about a radio single. Ya know what I say? Let Juelz just do his thing or allow him to walk! |

This was honestly, really disappointing. Juelz sounded uninspired and Wayne just sounds like he's taking all of his success for granted and not putting very much effort into his craft sometimes. Not a fan.

I'm tired of hearin dudes talkin bout their bitches gettin bitches... unoriginality has become the rule, not the exception...
Wayne continues his downward spiral, he done fell off... And Juelz just ain't relevant no more |

Production is solid & Juelz sounded good, though Weezy's hook was a little average.
3.5 If 'Back To The Crib' dosnt make it on radio soon, I cant see 'Born to Lose, Built to Win' being released anytime soon. |

I really liked this the first time through. I don't understand the negative reviews. Juelz' hook was clever, and this was one of Wayne's best singing performances. Good verses too. Solid banger

@XuUP17: "this was one of Wayne's best singing performances" The thing that is wrong with that statement, is that Lil Wayne is singing, i'm sick of him, but he'll turn it around
I said this yesterday, and i'll say it again, Lil Wayne has the worst, THE WORST, voice for singing even if he's autotuned He ruined the song with t pain yesterday, and he ruined this, i was feeling juelz flow tho, but theres no originality like someone said, its just getting really old (rapping about money, girls, etc.) |

Back To The Crib was a hit record!! A hit record! that record should have been all over the place by now, i can only guess that the appearance of CB on that song stopped it from blowing up....
This is cool, if not a paint-by-numbers hip hop crossover record... |

@that1kid13 called it, Mixin Up the Medicine was the sh*t, but this is forgettable. I say we jointly boycott any song featuring Weezy singing an auto-tuned hook, maybe then he'll get the message and get back to rapping. Together we can do this people!

Lyrics are pretty garbage however, the beat by Drumma Boy was the only thing that really kept me listening, Juelz has sort of lost it, i used to love his music. Lil Wayne's hook was decent, i will give it in the rotation just because of the beat.

i do like the beat. I really like Juelz Santana's flow on here, although its not exactly a new subject to talk about. I dont like Lil wayne on the hook at all, he took this down for me. He just continues to make me miss the rapping monster weezy ive come to know and enjoy. Overall, this probably won't get much radio play imo. 3 out of 5

Wack. From the lyrics to the song content. And Drumma Boy ain't the right producer for a NY rapper. 1 1/2

I'm tired of hearing Drumma Boy, Zaytoven, Shawty Redd and Fatboi keep repeating the syncopated skittery hi-hats, uber compressed kick & snare/handclap rolls, and synthesized organ stabs patterns. That's all.

Bring back the "Days Of Our Lives" Santana and we'll talk, drop Weezy and we'll talk, or just make a few good punchlines and we'll talk.

I like "Back to the Crib" better, but obviously that wasn't good enough for him to get a hit... Hopefully this will do better and solidfy an album date. The production shines far greater than the lyrics, but I like the vibe.

I liked it... It's just something i wouldn't listen to if i wasn't going to rate it. Not my time of music, but still i don't think its terrible. The flow is tight, lyrics are crap and duo is "meh". I liked the original stuff with Juelz and Wayne better.

"WAKE UP IN THE MORNING WITH ONE THOUGHT I GOTTA GET IT" THEN I HOP UP IN THE SHOWER W/ MY B*** ARE READY IN IT..."
Drumma Boy especialize in bass which it makes the beat incredible!!! Did you know at one point of time he was signed with NoLimit Records. It was between 2-3 million dollar deal but the clause was he only produce beats for Master P. In actually he was getting PIMP bc as a producer there's more money working with other artists with different charge rates depends on the status of the artist. |

Lil Wayne learns how to make a catchy hook in this song while not relying completely on auto-tune; although Juelz Santana sounds like a less-than-average rapper. But because of Weezy's catchyness, this song is actually good. Bang it
