JR Writer - Kill the Beat
Artist: JR Writer
Producer: Da Zombeez
Album: Writer's Block 6 Mixtape
Label: Babygrande
Last November, when our own Nathan S. reviewed JR Writer‘s Writer’s Block 5 mixtape, his reaction was overwhelmingly positive; he acclaimed the project as a “strong effort from a mid-major artist who’s trying to get to the next level.” One year later, Writer’s effort is still as strong as ever—the follow-up, Writer’s Block 6, is set for release in early ‘09. On his newest feature, Writer is ready to Kill The Beat with his punchline-filled flow and electric energy. So, who are the bereaved producers? None other than Da Zombeez , whose Frankenstein sample in the opening and keyboard loop throughout prove they’ve still got their brains. OK, you’ve probably read enough of my corny puns… feel free to perform your own autopsy on this slaughtered beat.

RuttanMan: I agree with that, this one bumps hard. I would have liked an actual chorus rather than just a pause in the music, and I think the verses drag on a bit, but nevertheless this one is a banger. Especially while I'm bumping this at max volume on my 5-pc speakers right now!

Skyoneder, I do agree. Maybe because of the "Switzerland" line...lol (If you've say Murda Mook battles, you'll understand). JR Writer is decent on this. I like the production a lot. I really dig the "heartbeat" pause vs. a hook. It sort of gave the track a suspense factor. "I keep that white girl around, call me Hugh Hefner"....lol. JR certainly did what he said in the title.

I like the beat and the lyrical flow JR Writer puts down...however the song tends to get annoying the more I listen to it..but overall its a good effort

This is good. I like the way JR raps. It's raw. Anyway, I've liked this guy since Byrd Call. Check it out if you haven't heard it. Banger. He killed it alright

I made a mistake. Just before I listened to this I was on you tube watchin Cory Gunna's freestyle. I shouldn't have done that. That lil N!&&@ is a wizard. This on a rappin standpoint ain't workin for me. The beat is cool I guess. But damn... smh.

Woooo! J.R. Writer!!!! This man is a beast. @*#$! you haters who really dont think he's good. His punchlines go harder than Ali. I like the beat but it doesn't sound as clean as it could. Still tho, it all comes back to the lyrics mayne. CLASSIC.

This dude has a really good flow, he has energy and he's never boring, but the production is horrible in my opinion. After a while it gets kinda annoying and repetitive! I don't know what ya'll find on this song...to me it's average

Great songs but production needs improvement. It does sound boring and there is no beat. In rotation

JR killed this beat, but I can list 25 emcees who could murk it even harder. With that said - JR no offense - I greatly look forward to the new mixtape.
