If relationships were simple, a whole lot of R&B singers would be out of a job. In reality, of course, they’re often volatile and messy— great material for a hit record. On his third Booth feature, the classically-trained up-and-comer tackles the uncomfortable situation of leaving a girl who did him wrong, only to realize that she may not be able to survive without him. Asking somebody, anybody to provide her with emotional CPR, Xantus turns out a cut quite a bit darker than his sunny debut single, Let’s Ride. With heavily-Autotuned vocals and a synth-driven instrumental by Trendsettaz, CPR may not showcase the unconventional musical stylings Xantus promised in his exclusive interview last December, but as a demonstration of the singer’s willingness to venture into heavy, emotional territory, it should have listeners wondering what else he has in store on his forthcoming debut LP, Can I Live.

His vocals arent that good and the synth is way too overpowering and that might of been his way to hide his voice. The lyrics are alright but this gets too repetive and dull after a while. From a R&B standpoint this just another throwaway

This aint bad, but its nothin better than OK either. I could see some people gettin into this, and the melody and hook are pretty cool. The production is not really that bad either. Having said that, I got bored after a while and I didn't mind his vocals but wondered how talented he really is as the auto-tune was too much. Its been overdone and if you're really an artist you should showcase your real vocal skills. Its not bad, just overdone and not original.

This just isn't that good track. It has potential, but the production needs refinement. It does get boring as well. This dude needs to come harder.

The song just needs more... cuz it does have potential! Melody is catchy and production is cool; whether it's boring or not depends on the vibes you like.
Someone else or even Xantus himself could've done a better job with the vocals though... |

While I am still patiently waiting for Josh to deliver a record like he promised in our interview (thanks for mentioning that, Richard)... I understand how this game works and what does and does not garner radio play.
"CPR", while radio-ready, isn't the goods that he can truly deliver on. Nice structure and melody (good call, FR), but the delivery is not 100%. |

I like this beat for the most part ... & hook jacks the potential of the song... he doesn't need auto-tune to drop a hit as he showcased on his last single... dis a let down ...

I like this one. I can see how some may think it's boring, but I didn't think so. I thought the production was nice, but the synth. was a little overpowering. All in all, I can throw it in the rotation

The production is wonderful in my opinion, not too slow and not too fast, it's sexy and has a good vibe. He sounds ok in the verses but the hook disappoints a lil. The melody ain't bad but he's annoying! For this production a better melody was needed, but it's in rotation to me

It's pretty good, but he shows no emotion in his voice at all. It really bland. He needs to make it sound like he really means what he is saying.

This would have been 100x better if the guy could actually sing. How you sound out of tune...with autotune is beyond me. Also, get those default FLStudio gates out of here.
