Johnny Polygon - Get Right
Artist: Johnny Polygon
Featuring: Amanda Diva
Producer: Picnic Tyme
Album: ...And Then There's Me Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
Ironic detachment may be a hallmark of Johnny Polygon‘s musical persona, but don’t let the Oklahoma rapper’s world-weary tone fool you into thinking he doesn’t care about his craft. Au contraire—it’s just that, after grinding long and hard to get that Get Right, he feels he deserves a little respect. Knowing our readership will appreciate both his hard work and his dry lyrical style, Polygon personally sent us the first leak off his forthcoming mixtape. Making its world premiere in the Booth, this cut finds the emcee flowing over a sparse, synth-driven beat by Picnic Tyme. Polygon’s sardonic wit is as sharp as ever as he takes aim at a few of his minimum wage-earning homeboys/girls, and he could hardly have found a better partner-in-rhyme than NYC femcee Amanda Diva—the collaborators’ blasé banter midway through is a highlight. Those who like what they’re hearing can find can find Get Right and much more on Johnny Polygon’s ...And Then There’s Me mixtape, due out late this month.

I'll have to agree wit everything that1kid13 said... and the production is decent, but just a tad too simple.

Shouts to the homie, Johnny on the premiere. I could see how some people might find his delivery a tad boring, but I totally dig it. Hell, Johnny even admits in the record that he "raps a little different."

"Group Hug" has something for just about every mood and JP is comfortable with each style that he decides to embark upon ...
Production a bit too sparse/repititive yet IS bangin! and Johhny's lyrics are just fun(ny) to listen to ... Amanda does well too ... BANGER!!! In-btw: JP's Twitter game is mad cool! (only a notch below DJ Z) |

I was just listening to another one of their collabs earlier tonight ("Neon" [from Amanda Diva's "Spandex, Rhymes & Soul]). That record was so dope.
The production on this sounds pretty ill. Johnny snapped on this & I'll love Amanda Diva FOREVER! Good record. |

Beat is thumpin even on these speakers. Segues well after Hot Girl by belly and snoop. They fit like a glove together. Johnny's flow is crazy. This is the first time I heard The Diva flow. I like what I hear from both of them.

I wasn't feeling this at first, but when ADiva started, I think it pulled it up at least 1.5 stars on her stuff alone...
