In case you were wondering what John Legend’s current single, Green Light, would sound like if it were remixed with a hint of Bob Marley, then we have just what you’re looking for!  A staple of our charts at DJBooth the past two-plus months, Green Light was recently redone by the U.K.’s Afroganic crew.  While the original version, which features production by Malay & KPM of Ghett-O-Vision, utilizes an up-tempo, club-worthy beat, Afroganic’s newer version takes the BMP counter and cranks it way down.  Despite the fact that Andre’s vocals were not rerecorded for the remix (they seem slightly out of place), John’s verses, chorus, and bridge layer perfectly over the reggae-tinged feel of the production.  Legend will release his brand new studio album, Evolver, this October.

This is nowhere near the original song. Andre's hook is too fast 4 the beat. This sounds like a last minute remix. If they wanted to use this beat so bad, they should have recorded new vocals. This is not on point.

Woah Woah Guys.. I think you´re coming down on this a little too hard. Lets appreciate this for what it is.. This is not replacing the original, it is merely someone else's take on the song. I will admit it's not a five star song, but two stars just does not do it justice.

When it first came on, I was going to say that it was horrible. As it continued playing, I realized it was pretty decent. It wasn't bad at all. It certainly is not the original...that's a classic. But this is not bad. The production itself it's pretty crispy. If they re-recorded the vocals for this actual remix to adapt it to the vibe, it might be a banger. For now, I'll throw it in rotation though. I'm still going to bang the original way more though.

I thought this beat was actually cool, and went better with JL's verses better than the original. That being said it did throw off Andre's beat, but still solid overall.

This is just a wack reggae beat! If it was another beat, it would have been better. I don't think it meshes well at all! I can't say it sucks because they both still sound good, but the beat kills it!
