On Monday evening, Senator Barack Obama was in Denver for the start of the Democratic National Convention. Also on hand at the DNC was singer John Legend, who took center stage to debut his new single, If You’re Out There. In a statement to the media, Legend explained that the song “reflects the themes of hope and change, responsibility and leadership, and commitment to a better tomorrow.” Joining Legend for the song’s bridge is the Agape Choir of Culver City, California. Produced by Trevor Horn and longtime collaborator, Devo Springsteen, If You’re Out There is available for free download at Obama’s website. Legend is set to release his latest album, Evolver, on October 28 courtesy of Columbia Records.

Man...John Legend continues to astound me with every new song he puts out. This is one of the most epic joints he has ever spearheaded and been a part of. Trevor Horn and Devo Springsteen's production is a great blend of classical soul and world music with the feel of some of our great World Music favorites, like "We Are The World", "Circle of Life" and so forth. This is great. Musicians are making music reflecting the hope we are embarking upon as we near a very epic and reality changing experience if Barack becomes our Commander and Cheif. But really, in general, no matter who is President, the world needs this message regardless to start making a positive change toward success and evolution of compassion for a world full of pain, hurts and tragedy. I really dig John Legend's new album title as well. "Evolver" sort of quotes up what everyone in the world should be striving to be...evolve into a better man or woman for the bettering of the universe. How deep was that last line: THE FUTURE STARTED YESTERDAY, AND WE'RE ALREADY LATE. That's real. Hands down one of the realest things I've heard from a long time.

John Legend is going to go down as just that - a LEGEND! This man continues to improve with each and every song he puts out. He just recently proved that he can make moves in the clubs as well, he is everywhere! I can honestly say that this can be one of those songs that will be remembered 10 years from now. The production is a masterpiece, plain and simple. Legends vocals are ridiculous as well, this song is global!

CLASSIC! CLASSIC! CLASSIC! This is an empowering song, it makes you feel something when you listen to it. The Agape Chior was great! Just like michaelhannah said "The future started yesterday, we're already late..." How deep was that, I loved that line. Such an appropiate song for the "Now" time. Bravo to the producers as well. 5 stars~(**)~

John Legend isn't the best singer with the best voice, but he is just so passionate about his music that everyone just feels what he is saying! This is a CRAZY HOT TRACK right here...I just hope It doesn't get played out as quickly as ordinary people (which is another classic). This is definitely a Certified DJ BLAZE BANGER! I am loving the beat and the whole message behind the track is lovely! Good Job!

I've said it once and I'll say it again. John Legend is the best R&B singer alive, hands down, no competition. This is quite possibly the only song I'd ever give a classic rating and mean it. This is just absolutely amazing.

What gets me the most about John Legend is that no matter what theme, his music is always inspirational. Whether he's talkin' about laid-back chillin' on a Sunday afternoon in the park, or dancin' at a soulful sexy soiree with his lady, his music ALWAYS hits home - always full of good vibes. My favorite line in this song is at the end..."The future started yesterday. We're already late."

I read a few comments about this songs "catchiness" ability and all of that. Sometimes we need to forget all that when listening to music. Lots of people have low musical integrity tastes and can't seem to identify something positive that's on a higher level spiritually and soulfully than just being a "song". That is sad, because in light of the latter, people usually embrace music detrimental to our society or civilized life and morally common order just because it's catchy or snazzy. Think about that. That's just my 2 cents...and then some.

One of the top inspirational songs with a very positive message at the perfect time. The production and the collaboration was classic. Gotta appreciate the fact that we still have artists in this day and age that will actually take the time to make an original track which they truly believe in, rather than making another club banger. I agree with michaelhannah, the song has a deep beautiful message, and if you try to rate the song based on its 'catchiness' then you have obviously missed the point.

I usually don't like these "We Are The World", "Heal The World" type songs. They're a bit corny and overdramatic but this one isn't bad. I like it and I could listen to it again. John Legend should be gettin' more buzz for his recent songs but his albums usually sell regardless.
