Southern newcomer John Anthony just doesn’t know how to take it slow. With previous releases Drugs and Swats still looming large in the rearview, Anthony is right back at it with new feature Wait Up. Produced by fellow DIEMON artist/producer, Russ, Up paces slowly around a sparse piano line and layered percussion. That minimal instrumental approach allows the light to shine on John’s vocals, letting the world (once again) hear an string on consciousness emcee that doesn’t sound quite like anyone else. While this one is just a loose track, fans can keep an ear out for Anthony’s upcoming, vowel-free album Jxhn, set to drop in late July/early August.

Nice vibe on this record. The verses and the hook have such a contrasting style, but that doesn't hurt the record. They play off one another nicely. A change of pace is welcomed sometimes while weaving in and out of a verse.
