Joel Verdad - The Cycle
Artist: Joel Verdad
Producer: Davey
Album: Adolescent (Add-A-Lesson) Theory
Label: Hybred Society
The character of Juliet Capulet in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet once questioned “what’s in a name?” before likely going into a boring
lengthy monologue about love. For North Carolina rapper and DJBooth newcomer Joel Verdad there’s actually quite a lot in his name. The name Joel is derived from a prophet in the Bible and Verdad is Spanish for truth. Despite his prophetic moniker, Verdad’s Booth debut The Cycle is an energetic, lyrically tongue-twisting tune that samples a portion of Q-Tip and Andre 3000‘s That’s Sexy. Handling the production on The Cycle is Davey, who keeps up with Verdad’s rapid rhymes with a combination of drum-kicks and a little bass. For more new tunes from the artist check out his Adolescent (Add-A-Lesson) Theory album, which can be downloaded for a price of your choosing via Bandcamp.
