Joe Scudda - Catch Up
Artist: Joe Scudda
Producer: Statik Selektah
Album: Not Your Average Joe EP
Label: Hall OF Justus Music Group
Like the Black Flag Records crew (featured today with You Wanna Battle), Joe Scudda is of the opinion that the game needs a violent shake-up – and he’s just the man to do it. On his first solo feature, the North Carolina native rejoins forces with Jaded collaborator Statik Selektah to lay out his blueprint for rap rehabilitation, and scoff at those who just can’t seem to Catch Up with his style. Over the Boston beatsmith’s brash, street-ready brass samples, Scudda spits three verses’ worth of hard-hitting trash talk, saving his harshest words for rival emcees: “That sh*t you’re spittin’, we don’t care / you’re worse than a badass ho with no hair.” (And believe you me, that’s pretty bad.) Though the Kanye reference may be a little past its ‘sell-by’ date, this track will undoubtedly have fans of aggressive underground jams reaching to “rewind that.” If that sounds like you, pick up a copy of the emcee’s Hall Of Justus & The Smoking Section Present: Not Your Average Joe EP when it drops February 23, and stay tuned for Scudda’s contribution to our Booth-exclusive freestyle series, set to premiere in March.

Of course its dope - Statik Selektah produced it! Welcome, Mr. Scudda, to the Booth! Nothing spectacular, nothing bad. Just raw hip hop.

The first time I heard Scudda was in 05' on Lovin It by Little Brother, I've been a fan of the guy since. And Statik produced it? Wow, a BANGER for sure. Looking forward to many more features of Scudda in the Booth. :)

This is the kind of song that's so solid you almost don't truly appreciate it, the way a great athlete makes throwing down a nasty dunk look easy. If you're a hip-hop head you've got to enjoy this one.

Statik Selektah is one of the few producers that I know of who can out do himself on the production and overdhadow everyone featured on the track, this is one of those tracks right here.

Looking at his promo picture, I laughed because he doesn't look like a emcee to me. But once I heard the track he is sort of nice though on the beat. But that Hip-Hop's Barracuda is lame.
