Over the last few months, Joe Budden has been quite busy with interviews. While promoting his past MM3 release and his long-overdue, much-anticipated sophomore album, Padded Room, the Jersey native has been asked by many if “hip hop is dead?” On the newly-leaked track, Who (Pt. 1), Jumpoff Joey reformats the question and provides a detailed response. Dissecting who killed hip-hop and when it occurred, the veteran emcee points the finger at the Reggaeton sensation, the auto-tune takeover, the popularity of snap music, and songs that have spurned dances (amongst a plethora of other, just as important possibilities). Providing the platform for Budden’s State of the Genre address is Portugal producer Blastah Beatz, who reworks Marvin Gaye’s sultry classic, Inner City Blues. Look for Pt. 2 later this week…
I'm definitely feeling the vibe of the production by Blastah Beatz. Joe Budden is a lyrical beast. He snapped and hit every cat who directly or indirectly effected a decrease in the sincerity and sanctity of hip hop. This is definitely a very focused track. Joe Budden never used to be on my radar back in the day, but he's definitely been on it lately.
Man. This song was so good and detailed. Can't wait for Part 2. I might scoop this upcoming Joe Budden project. To think, I used to use his promo single vinyl as a mouse pad. LOL.
WOW i NEVER been a fan of joe work, but this is nice, great samplin of the great marvin gaye and hard lyrical content by joe, i rate high bcuz he suprised me on this track
This is a breath of fresh air. Lyrics are so interesting, I stay focused for the whole song. Listen to this people, its better than whats on your iPod.
what he's saying makes sense...but beat is so over the place and his voice is riotous, u can't help but not understand what the hell he's saying...he should have calmed down a notch, i had to slow it down to comprehend what the track was about...not doing it for me, it sounds way too insincere!!
Joe Budden is BACK! JERSEY $TAND THE FUCK UP!!! This is serious right here. The production/beat is Fire and Joe is spittin' the truth about the game! BANGER!!!
I like it, too much profanity, when is somebody going to be creative enough to go through a whole song, getting their message across, without profanity? GEEZ!!
yo i swear the last song i heard from him was pump it up so naturally i was surprised by this. Prob not a song as much as it is a message. You really don't know shit if you think the fans pick the videos on 106. Best line. "this chick told me she only take new money.....man i snatched my shit back so fast!" lol @ how he shits on t-pain an wezzy....ok song great message!! Three to rotate an spread da message
Joe killed it. Like many others who posted I really haven't been a fan of Joe's work in the past but as of late he has really upped the ante so to speak.
