Back in ‘06, teenage up-and-comer Jibbs dropped his debut album, Jibbs ft. Jibbs, parlaying his strong underground following into mainstream success with smash-hits Chain Hang Low and King Kong. Since then, the St. Louis native’s flow has matured quite a bit, and now he’s hoping to both please his devotees and attract new fans with sophomore album New Swag, New Tempo. After two unsuccessful attempts (Kaveman, Keep It Gangsta), we’ve finally gotten our hands on an official lead single. Knowing an old flame’s in town, Jibbs calls up his favorite radio station to say, “Ay DJ, play this next song which I’m dedicating to my lady!” Jibbs’ special someone will definitely turn the sound up once Lloyd‘s background vocals (less raspy than usual) come on, and Bruno and Mars’ instrumental sets an appropriately romantic mood. If past chart performance is any indication, Ay DJ has the makings of a hit, and should have females everywhere rushing to their local record stores come August 26th.

I'm coming closer to a conclusion that Jibbs just isn't that good of a rapper. This song has mad potential with the "tweens" and younger folk, but it's not my cup of tea. Props to Lloyd for really showcasin on the chorus though!

Jibbs is tryin, but I am with "cb126405." He just isn't that good. Lloyd really brought some heat on the hook, though. That was the high point of the track. Just an ok cut, overall.

I never expected to rate a Jibbs track a banger in my life but I cant just deny its not good because of his name. Lloyd is a beast on the hook like always and Jibbs lyrics are still ok but they fit the subject matter good and fit on the production. This is going to be killin on the radio stations!

i agree that song has carzy potential but that "Ay DJ Ay DJ..." is annoying and brings the song down a good notch. i would rate 2 but i think that this would be coo to listen sometimes so ill give it the benfit of the doubt.

Out of all these 'new generation' rappers (Huey. M.I.M.S. etc), I have always expected Jibbs to be the one out of that group that could make another popular track & I think this may be it. Lloyd was great, the production was sick & Jibbs was pretty good on this.
3.5 - If you get rid of that annoying 'Ay DJ' it would be a banger |

Maybe I would like it better if I actually liked Jibbs.... so its in-rotation fo me ... Lloyd is smooth as ever & dats a good thing ... |

being that both jibbs and lloyd are hits with teens i cant see this song going further than high school but it has a catchy tune to it and its smooth. 3.5 stars

jibbs had strong points and weak points on this track...flow jumped around too much, he should stick with that smoother tone, or how he began the 2nd verse.. catchy and enjoyable hook, a good song to get him re-noticed

I actually like this song, it has a great chorus and a great beat. And i liked jibbs last CD, and i really hoped he would not just drop off. Its been awhile but he seems to be coming back slowly.

There is only two songs that i've heard from my man Jibbs (You probably know what songs they are). The song feels as if its missing something which takes a significant impact on the overall rating (c'mon like a piano sumthin' like that)

I like Jibb's energy on the track. He is an entertaining rapper. Lloyd is nice on the chorus. Production is nice, but yeah it could sound nicer with a piano like Stunna said. It sounds like a hit!

hell yeah i liked 'chain hang low' and i luved i think it was called 'keep it gangsta'??...that track wuz hella bomb. nEway tho this aint bad but yeah aint no banga either. jibbs i thionk has madd potential but doesnt know how to show it well...o btw i liked lloyds part too.

Jibbs is not a very good rapper, as he's way to pedestrian, but I liked some of the songs he put together. Those are the type of songs that ppl would listen to no matter who rapped on the verses. This seems to be the case wit this one, and even tho it has his potential its just too boring for me.

Has a good radio sound, definitely will get play and be on the music channels. Lloyd adds a little charm to the track, but Jibbs really spit nice on this. He's got a better flow as some members noted, its a solid radio joint.

The song has a sweet and catchy production, the melody is cool but I'm not mad for Jibbs! Lloyd sounds good. I don't think it's a song that will remain in the history of music, but it's good enough to be thrown in rotation
