Two years ago, if you heard the name Jibbs, it was accompanied by the nursery-rhyme cheekiness of his snap dance smash hit Chain Hang Low. Since then, however, the his voice has deepened, and with this new maturation he will release Keep It Gangsta, the first official single off his forthcoming sophomore LP. Keeping a relatively positive outlook over producer Jesse “Aktual” Blake’s synth-heavy beat, Jibbs lets it be known that he is about representing what you stand for, regardless of what others think. The St. Louis native maintains a nonconformist outlook, rapping “When I talk about being a gangsta, I ain’t talkin’ bout bein’ a killa,” while Miami’s Pleasure P adds an aggressively passionate edge to the song’s hook. Jibbs’ new album, New Tempo, New Swagg is due at the top of 2009.
I agree with some of you...production is good, chorus is great, verses are lame! I didn't like Jibbs...Neither his voice, nor the fact that he never changed tune. It's an ok song
I like how Jibbs explains that "keepin' it gangsta" doesn't have to be NWA style, especially because he plays to a young teenage audience. This could work, Pleasure P deserves props.
actually this could work, i didn't think i'd be saying that. verses are solid from jibbs for the younger crowd, and pleasure p's still lookin to get on the hook of a ahit song haha
Jibbs is kinda tryin to make a safe way of bein gangsta...? lol
but im feeln this song, the beat is BANGINN! and Pleasure did a great job on this, and BDF44 i think they would blow up if Pleasure went back to Pretty Ricky.
