Pretty much everyone in the Booth agreed that Jeremih‘s self-titled debut was a solid set, but will the Birthday Sex singer succeed in crafting a follow-up that will ensure his longevity in the game? Today, we have the beginning of an answer. Released to Windy City radio last Friday, lead single iLike has many of the elements that defined Jeremih’s past hits – a hypnotically sparse melody, steamy lyrics, a woozy, minor-key beat by production partner Mick Schultz... – but the overall texture feels fresh and new. The cut’s uniquely catchy vibe is bolstered by a repeated sound effect which I can only describe as “the popping of a cartoon soap bubble,” and, appropriately enough, the ever-freaky Ludacris kicks his guest verse off with a little bathtime imagery: “Let me touch your body, like when you be fresh up out the tub and you rub that lotion…” So, Booth, readers, do you like what Jeremih’s doing here – and, more to the point, will this jam help score the artist’s forthcoming sophomore album, All About You, a release date sooner than later? That, of course, is for Booth readers to debate, and all of us to find out…

Jeremih's vocals are smooth on this record, kinda seems a little boring to me though. For the ladies most definitely and Luda is outstanding as always. Idk maybe just me but Jeremih was kinda missing the wow factor.

I forgot Jeremih was still hear, wow, not that excited to hear him again either. Jeremih just sings and really dosen't bring anything to the song. If it wasn't for Luda, who once again upgrades the song, this would be completely boring.

Jeremih has a signature sound that he stuck with throughout the whole debut album, and it returns again with this new single. I can't complain though, it's a bedroom burner. FIRE!

This aint bad. I've been gettin a little tired of Luda lately, but this was a nice change from him. He actually stole the song. Production is nice, and the song as a whole isn't bad. A little sleepy, but I can overlook that fact.

yeah havent heard some jeremih for a while, been missing i reckon. he has the same sound to his voice as in birthday sex so im liking this so far. the hook is average but luda as expected kills his verse. very nice

So finally Jeremiah comes back w/ a song w/ Ludacris. Nice radio hit for those teenie-boppers. Reminds me of a mix of Birthday Sex/Raindrops. Its not super hot but its a good listen. Cool Summer nights anyone?

Sounds like so many songs i have heard before, but all those were hits, so what makes this any different? Who knows...I personally will never listen to this song again by choice, but i have a strong feeling that i will be hearing alot of it this summer.

Glad to see Jeremih is back and not just another two-hit wonder. I've long been a fan of his work (dating back to BEFORE he dropped Birthday Sex) and I'm thrilled to hear he has stuck with longtime producer Mick Shultz over some Def Jam-hired production muscle.
Their vocal and melodic styles go together great and with or without Luda this will be a hit at radio.

I do love how Jeremih is defferent, the beat isn't my zone but it is enjoyable, Luda deff kept me listening. This isn't another birthday sex but it is a GREAT start. |

This is too close to Birthday Sex. Sure it's not the same song, but I wouldn't be surprised if girls heard this on the radio and said "not this song again."

I feel a little bad for Jeremih, he might end up going down as the Birthday Sex guy for the rest of his life, even though there were a lot of songs off that debut album that were pretty decent too. I don't think this will be the track that puts him back on top - it sounds a litle too generic - but it's still catchy, and LUda as always comes with it. I predict a low to mid level hit.

I was a big fan of Jeremih's last album. To me it was very impressive to say it was his debut album. This one has smash hit written. But I do wish he kind of broaden his subject matter. Oh, I almost forgot another stellar verse from my boy and top three rapper in my book, Ludacris.

The song wasn't bad, it just sounded like a Birthday Sex Part 2 or a remix. They even sound like their in a similar key. Its a good song for baby making, but those are a dime a dozen. Ludas verse is in true Luda form. I could here it in the club, but I don't think this will create any more buzz than Birthday Sex. Decent effort, maybe we'll get something a little different next time.

Luda really needs to tone down the amount of guest features he's dropping. He's over saturating the market at the moment.
Jeremih may have a second hit on his hands with this one. Production is smooth and he lays down some good vocals. This is nothing I would personally listen to, but id imagine the ladies would dig this. |
