It all began in late ‘08, when Chicago R&B up-and-comer Jeremih‘s Birthday Sex started getting spins at local station Power 92 (WPWX). Featured on DJBooth that December, the cut went on to achieve massive regional popularity and earn the artist a deal with Def Jam. Currently occupying the #1 spot on our Top Picks Chart, the overwhelmingly successful single has finally received its inevitable official remix. The crowd-pleasing combo of Jeremih’s vocals and Mick Schultz’ beat are retained, but one of the singer’s new labelmates steps in to kick the record up a notch—on the front end, Fabolous asks a female to blow out his candle in an unprecedented sung-rap verse. Now that Birthday Sex has Def Jam‘s backing, expect both the original and this remix to blossom into summer anthems, just in time for the release of Jeremih’s currently-untitled major-label debut.

The production is smooth and this is just good as the original. Fabolous always kill these r&b tracks and he provides a different vibe to the song. Jeremih's vocals are smooth. Dope babymaking song!

This and the original are definitely worthy of plenty of rotation, not quite a banger for me tho. It seems like one of those songs that I will be annoyed to hear "i,i,i,i" after the summer is over and it is played so much. But yea I like it for now. Fab adds a lil bit to the track for me, but not as much as if he would have rapped instead of rap/sing. At the same time the tempo and light production may have been the reason for him to choose that route. Overall a nice track with a decent addition.

Damn I completely forgot about this song...and it also helped me tie together that he's the one on Fab's new single. I'm realy looking forward to both artist's projects, very impressive.
Anyway, this remix was fire as expected. Better than the original thanks to Loso's contribution. |

Yup. Loso did very nicely on this. I'm likin this production, and Jeremih does nice on here as well.
