Jennifer Lopez - Loboutins
Artist: Jennifer Lopez
Producer: The Dream & Tricky Stewart
Album: Love?
Label: 2101/Capitol
J-Lo may have taken a spill onstage during Sunday’s American Music Awards, but for the most part she’s on solid footing when it comes to reviving her once unstoppable career. Sure her last track Fresh Out the Oven didn’t exactly go over well in the Booth, but Jenny from the block has never been one to go down without a fight and on her new track Louboutins she’s back to prove she can still make hits. (For those without girlfriends/wives, Louboutins are a brand of very, very expensive shoes.) Produced by perennial hitmakers The Dream & Tricky Stewart, Louboutins is an unusually up-tempo track from the production duo featuring a pounding synth section and some frankly unimpressive vocals from J-Lo. Will this track finally be the spark that reignites her once white-hot career? I’ll leave it up to the Booth to decide. Louboutins is off of J-Lo’s upcoming album Love?, due out sometime in 2010…probably.

Music is dying. It's official. Artists just don't try anymore.

Here is the story. This song was originally created (written and produced) for Brandy while she was an artist at Epic. Brandy recorded a version, but it didn't make her last album (thankfully). Brandy since left the label and since they assumed control of the record (assumed), they offered it up to Mr. Lo. Honestly, aside from the whack chorus, the song is catchy and should get some spins at the club (by DJs who know the women rule the floor).

@Dj Baer - Dude, I hope that is not true haha, but that's what it's looking like sometimes.
J-Lo certainly didn't seem like she tried too hard on this one. It was repetitive, she sounded uninspired, and the production had nothing in it to keep you interested (weird because Tricky and The-Dream produced it). Wasn't terrible but not good. 2 stars. |

Danggg, why the hate? I love this song, not for the Tricky/Dream production or the high heel theme (if I did I would be gay), but I truely felt that J. Lo, one of my all time favorite female artists is making a HUGE comeback. This song is the definition of a hit, way better than that "Fresh Out of the Oven" crap. 5 Stars, and yes, I am sure of it!

i think this track would be better if they sped up the speed just a little. kinda goes on too slow. change up the hook a little too. otherwise it has promise.

Unfortunately it's time for J-Lo to admit that she's just not able to pull of being an pop/r&b/hip-hop singer anymore. At 40 she comes off like your parents trying to guess what music you'd like. Luckily I have a solution: she should concentrate on more Spanish language music. With her husband Marc Anthony (who, in case you didn't know if a legitimately amazing salsa singer) I think she could continue to have a long career. But as of right now, J-Lo's career is done. It's actually a little sad, but all things end, and this thing is ending on a low note.

Either bring more mature music, or get out of the way.

That synth is simple, but it gives the track a great vibe. And those horns kill it. Part of the first verse seems to be lacking, but it's still decent. The bridge is amazing. I like the chorus. Even though it's repetitive, it has so much energy. I would recoomend on the chorus that they only repeat the line 3 times, and then add something different for the fourth. That way you keep the repitition, but you don't over use the one line.

The melody is catchy but I don't like the music, it's not smooth. Kinda boring!

some artists are just done, and i'm pretty sure JLO is past that. I think the only career she's got left is to make some more upbeat spanish tracks, may work better. Other than that, please hang it up.

This song is very catchy and shows a good potential for a comeback hit. It def something I can see people dance to in the clubs which is the place that J.Lo is known for great success. Is it a #1. We'll have to wait and see. Trick and The Dream believe in the song and are backing Jenny up on this one. When I 1st heard single ladies I was like wtf? but it grew on me.

The Dream did his THING with the production. This sounds like a decent comeback track for J.Lo, but it is missing something. Not sure what it is but a feature from someone like DRAKE/Weezy would have helped this track out a whooooole lot!

Great song, hate to admit that it is repetitive. But it has a catchy beat and makes me feel like dancing. Plus the lyrics will probably fit more for women than men... Comeback song? We'll see. It's still got an awesome beat.
