From being an American Idol runner-up to winning an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls, it seems singer/actress Jennifer Hudson has done everything except release an album. On September 30, that last part will change with her reworked self-titled debut on Arista Records; fueled by the successful lead single Spotlight; J-Hud and her label team have decided to continue promotion by giving it the remix treatment. As the Chicago songbird continues to voice her displeasure with her overprotective boyfriend, the Miami boss Rick Ross sounds like the opposite of the man in the topic in his two verses. Nonetheless, this remix should extend the original version‘s appeal, getting fans even more hyped for Hudson’s self-titled album in the process.
I love the original song...actually suprised me that it was jennifer hudson....not saying she can't sing but that she can actually make a quality song unlike some american idolists...i just don't think rick ross should be on this...not a good mix...
I loved the original as well. Jennifer held it down so well. This new remix....man....Ross snapped. This is like the best, more sincere and crispy verse I've ever heard Ross spit. The second verse was pretty nice. He actually sounded like old old Ross who I heard spit over this beat produced by Kanye that was like from one of his old mixtapes before "Hustlin" dropped. I can't remember the name of that track either. If somebody knows, let me know. But this joint right here was very pleasurable to the ears.
It's not my type of song. If I find it on the radio (impossible) I gladly listen to it, but when I added it to my mp3 player, I kept on skipping it lol! Well this remix adds nothing to the original version...it was a good song and it's still a good song! But this edit is quite useless. Rick Ross doesn't fit the type of song very well in my opinion. Ne-Yo should have sung, or Trey Songz...an rnb voice!
Ross didn't phone it in on this remix, he provided two guest verses instead of the customary one, and each of them flowed with JH's vocals very well. This was a hit record before, nothing has changed. (Does anyone else close their eyes and picture Toni Braxton singing this song?)
