Everyone knows Jennifer Hudson as an American Idol runner-up and an Oscar-winning actress (for her role in Dreamgirls), but what everyone has wanted to know for months now is, where is her debut album? Well, on September 30 that question will be answered in full. On the follow-up to her first single, Spotlight, the Chicago native turns away all the men who want to take advantage of her, warning them to leave before she hits them with her Pocketbook. Speaking up for the fellas, Ludacris shows he’s still the same freak as he was in his What’s Your Fantasy days (and is willing to take that paperback to the head). Produced by Timbaland and Jim Beanz and written by Keri Hilson‘s songwriting team, the Clutch, Pocketbook might have audiences reaching for their wallets and purses come the end of the month.
Timbo's voice beat is bangin. Jen's old school flow is fitting for the track. Sassy type track and Luda compliments it well. I think you got a hit here.
Jennifer is looking even more beautiful by the second. I love the eclectic beatbox oriented production by Jim Beanz & Hannon Lane. Spotlight was a near classic and this is a great, unique follow-up single. Jennifer's vocals have no flaws as usual. Ludacris came hot with an energetic rap featuring verse as usual! The verse reminds me of his verse on Usher's "Yeah"! I felt they could have ended the song more spectacular, like a huge dance break or something, but overall, it's still a banger.
Jennifer Hudson has excellent vocal skills but I preferred Spotlight. I'm not feeling this very much, above all the production. Maybe it's too weird for my tastes, I don't know...I wouldn't listen to it again! Good job by Luda
This is a great album track. I am not sure I am feeling it as a single. Ludacris is the appeal here and that isn't what a rising artist Like J.Hud needs. This is a slight step down from Spotlight, but an entertaining listen nonetheless.
this is so corny. nobody even says 'pocketbook' anymore. didnt we move up to 'purse' 100 years ago? this is whack.
sorry luda u had to waste your time. she is better than this empty subject.
Burmy!, What's Your Fantatasyyyyyy hahaha, i forgot about that song until just now, thanks for remindin me, I think Luda needed to be on the track more, but also, i think if he was on the track more he would've overshined J.Hud.. Shes underated as a singer.. but overall good track, the production is FIREE!!!!
the word pocketbook is so outdated. btu overall good song. luda did his thing as always. jenny hud has a lovely voice and the beat is good. jus tthe word pocketbook is outdated as hell
well those who says its worse than spotlight,
i disagree becuz i didnt like that song. she looks nice in that picture too. but yeah no one says pocketbook. but the song is still fun.
i wish she would try to hit me with her damn pocket book..i take that @*#$! right out her hand..haha jk im a fool. LUDA killed it, brought it back to life, took it to dinner, gave the beat its own pocket book, and killed it again.

Timbo been quiet for a bit but he's back ladies and gentleman!! Luda being in the top 5 of my fave rappers kills it (as usual, nothing new there) and Jennifer got a amazing voice even though this song aint my type...CANT WAIT FOR THEATER OF THE MIND
beat is different, and has a good vibe to it. yea its more of a b-type song, but she needed something that didn't put people to sleep like spotlight does. luda has been on a rampage.
