Jeff Chery - They Get Around
Artist: Jeff Chery
Producer: Sam Sneed
Album: The Transition
Label: Team Rsinal Inc.
Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt – it’s also the force that’s allowed countless men and women to turn a blind eye to clear and present evidence of their partners’ infidelity. Though no guy ever wants to entertain the idea that his girl’s cheating (and, of course, vice versa), self-deception can have dangerous, even fatal consequences, as reader fave/exclusive freestyle series alum Jeff Chery explains on new mixtape leak They Get Around. Making its world premiere in the Booth, this cut finds producer Sam Sneed serving up a melancholy, Chipmunk-sampled instrumental as the emcee spins a cautionary tale illustrating just how quickly things can turn ugly when we let lust overwhelm our better judgment. And that goes, like, quadruple when you have a loaded gun stashed under your mattress. Bad idea, kids. Seriously. If you’re digging this tragic yet dopely-executed jam, you’ll want to grab a copy Chery’s The Transition mixtape when it drops on August 29, as well as keeping it locked for the latest on his and K. Sparks’ DJBooth.net-sponsored collaborative album, Luck of the Draw.

i jst like songs that tell storys. This reminds me of R.Kelly's traped in the closet. But anyway, beat is super hot, rappin is dope, and the story is sick.

Why can I not put my finger on the classic 90's R&B song that Sneed samples here? Man, I need to know. This might just drive me crazy.
Its Jeff Chery, what did you expect. He consistently delivers and shows his versatility by tackling just about every type of production that is thrown his way. |

Huge props to any DJ who can mash this with Tupac's I Get Around.
Like everything Cherry's been doing lately, this is on point and I'm digging the storytelling flow. I'm stoked to hear The Transition and Luck of the Draw, they could be huge. By the way, can we officially retire the "believe it or not...ripley" line please? I've heard it on at least 50 different tracks at this point, no exaggeration. |

Jeff Chery is the man when it comes to making good music. This was no exception. The chipmunk sample was integrated into the background perfectly and the Chery's lyrical talent is at it's peak. Banger!

Production on this is a winner. I'm not so sure about the subject matter and the delivery he uses on this. Just give me the instrumental.

The production on this track was not bad. I like the sample and the drums. I think the chorus was the better part of the vocals. Verses were OK.
