After over a year of waiting, Jeff Chery‘s Booth-sponsored Going Against the Grain street album is so close I can almost taste it. What does it taste like? Beats me – it was just a figure of speech. If you really want to know, I guess you’ll just have to try… licking your headphones. Anyway, today we are proud to present the project’s very last leak, a Booth-exclusive world premiere. Cuttin finds the ATL-based emcee rejoining forces with Champion/Milf collaborator Ray Lavender to craft one of the more creatively freaky bedroom jams to hit the Booth in a minute. With producer J. Hot‘s sparse, synth-percussion beat simmering in the background, Chery spits a cornucopia of colorful come-ons, from the relatively conventional (“They gonna have to carry that p***y out on a stretcher.) to the best-not-thought-too-hard-about (“I can get you open wider than a magazine.”). Topped off with Lavender’s smooth-as-ever chorus vocals, Cuttin’ can be found, along with previously-premiered track Fearless and much more on GAtG, arriving on our front page next Tuesday, March 23. Funny story. When Jeff sent over this new leak from GAtG (out next week) he accompanied it with the following message: "A lot of the fans may not appreciate this one, but its a hot record and one of those different lane records we do all the time." I think Jeff thought I wasn't going to dig it... well, Jeff... you were wrong!
While the beat isn't my "style," its real fresh. Ray L knocks the chorus out of the proverbial park and Jeff is probably the most lyrical emcee to ever touch a club-ready beat like this from J. Hot. The ladies will enjoy it for sure.  DJ Booth on Twitter |

This song really grew on me from the beginning to the end. I really didn't know what to make of the beat and it seemed the first verse started off kinda slow, but Ray Lavender came to play on the hook. It was sick! And after that the beat and the verses just all came together for me and sounded dope.

I like me some Ray Lavender... that aside... Jeff sounds too young, his voice is annoying for such a song. Ruins whateva mood he's trying to create. I would have put this in rotation if I heard more of Ray but it was just too much young blood for my mature taste.

OMG this song is mad catchy!!!!! The beat is sick because it has a techno feel yet Jeff Chery smooths it out with a hip-hop feel. Ray Lavender on the chorus makes this song a CLASSIC!!!!!!!
