Jeff Chery - Come From
Producer: Scott Armstrong
Album: The Transition
Label: Team Rsinal Inc.
Those who have been following Jeff Chery‘s Booth career since way back when he called himself “Pay$0z” know that the artist’s life trajectory has led him all the way from Haiti, to Flatbrush, Brooklyn, to Atlanta and back to NYC. If you ask Chery where he Come From however, he’ll answer you without a moment’s hesitation – B.K., all the way! Making its world premiere right here at DJBooth.net, leak numero dos off the freestyle series alumnus’ forthcoming mixtape finds him waxing poetic about the neighborhood that served as backdrop for his formative years. Over a Scott Armstrong laid-back, street-ready bass/synth groove, Chery expresses his pride to hail from the same streets as one of rap’s all-time greats (“I came from the place that B.I.G. lived / Shoes big as f*ck – wonder if I can fit in.”), and revisits his days slinging dope on the corner. Digging this fresh expression of hometown pride? You can find this joint, the K. Sparks-assisted I Bet He’s Nice, and much more on J.C.‘s Booth-sponsored The Transition street album, set to hit our mixtape page for free streaming and download October 19.

Big fan of Chery (always have been). He has a nice flow, plenty of charisma, and his personality shines through into his music. The bounce of this beat is a nice match for his energy and vocals.

Jeff Chery's last track "Doubt Me" was great and grew on me more and more everyday. Anther impressive song here just shows the consistency and potential that Chery has. He's definitely about to blow up soon.

personally, i believe it can be very difficult to make creative and catchy music thats made for the streets, but thats exactly wat Jeff Chery does here. also, he does it w/out compromising his style or creativity. one of my fav songs from Mr. Jeff Chery.

This beat is real nice. I feel like his vocals could be a little bit better. but I think there pretty much on point here. Great work.

Scott Armstrong really catches my eye on this track, awesome prod. Jeff's flow is so catchy and head boppin, definetly something I'd listen to over & over with a smile on my face.

To be honest, I've heard much better from Chery. I wasn't too impressed with this record. It may be catchy, but at the end of the day, the song just didn't stick.

That beat just draws you in. Ive heard Jeff flow better but he's still one of the best newcomers in the game and he shows it here. I wasnt feeling the hook at first, but it grew on me.
