Up-and-coming artists have been utilizing networking websites to help launch their careers, ever since the popularity of MySpace and YouTube helped the artist formerly known as Soulja Boy rise to fame. And the next in line is… 16-year-old rapper JDoe, a Western New Yorker, who spits his game over the bass-knocking new single, Drum Roll. While the young stunna gets it poppin’ over a crunk beat (produced by fellow Buffalonian, The Future), the boy doesn’t rhyme about trivial high school issues like girls, kicks and haters. Creating a dance contest via his website to help introduce his lifestyle, JDoe has already begun his own career drum roll. His debut album, The Voice: The Answer, is slated for release in early ‘09.
The drums rolls knock hard on this track. This is not a bad song. The chopped/screwed "rubber band" was unnecessary. It disrupts the flow of the song. Song is ok.
I like the beat, it's unique compared to a lot of other tracks that are being churned out. Unfortunately the track is seriously lacking content, I hear nothing more than him saying 'drum roll', 'drum roll', 'drum roll'. He did very little to show off his rap skill, definitely shouldn't have gone with an 80% chorus track. Credit for uniqueness nonetheless.
Okay, let me start off by reminding everyone that this is a 16 year-old artist. Who do you think he is recording music for? Other teens? or Adult hip-hop fans? C'mon. Drumlines are huge in the southern states and the beat on this song is SICK. Will he blow up? Who knows... but remember what the demo is here.
DJ Z, marry me. HAHAHAHA!! ...but your comments are ALWAYS on point!
...I agree...this is decent for a 16 yr old. I prefer him over Soulja Boy anyway =P
i like the beat but he coulda taken a few things out. Too much noise at once- subtlety is a virtue. he has potential i guess and he's my age so i cant take too much off
I don't think I will see myself liking a dude that was born in 1992. Nothing in common with me. But the beat is like a nursery beat.
He doesn't talk about much. But his delivery is better than Soulja Boy.
I've heard this song awhile ago when i was n new york n i luved it...he gone blow up even though its to much noise but thats what young people luv...so gud luck to him i luv it he got mah vote 5 stars
