Hailing from South East, United Kingdom, singer Jay Sean is preparing for the release of his independent album, My Own Way, this March. No stranger to the grind of an indie-album release, Jay’s debut LP, Me Against Myself, sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. On the newly leaked song, Just A Friend, Jay layers his vocals perfectly over a mid-tempo clap track. Nothing like the song of the same title courtesy of Mario, Jay’s vocal tone and harmonies are similar to those he cites on his MySpace page as his musical influences: Jodeci, Tevin Campbell and Aaron Hall. Although Jay Sean will only be promoting his new album in the U.K., enough buzz from DJBooth might change that quickly.
Never heard of him before, but I definitely feel this song. But this style of r&b doesn't really have a lasting effect on me... Has a bit of a craig david vibe coming from this song.
I find it really difficult for male R&B recording artists to stand out from the crowd, byt Jay does a pretty good job on establishing his persona. 300,000 copies for an indie album from the U.K. is impressive. Nice track.
yo this track is pretty good. but to hear him at his best, listen to "Ride It." Yo DJ Z, i think its time you put this "ride it" as part of the songs we can listen to.

The beats so sweet. His voice is sexy too, just like him. Jay Sean's really big in the UK. By the time we hear about artists from the UK, they've usually been out for a while.

Great, smooth flow. Gotta love this new guy. Doesn't get much attention in the US. Simple and rythmic beats, depends more on the quality of his voice rather than the production. Like it.
Normally would have given 4/5 but since I like him so much I give it 5 stars. I notice that a lot of you seem to think he is new and dont really know Jay Sean.
I prefer his other songs such as 'Stay' 'Maybe' 'He could never love you like me' 'Used to love her' and ofourse my favourite 'Ride it'. If you find the time you should definitely download all Jay Sean's songs. They are nearly always great and solid everytime =)
Express yeah I'm sooo in love with Ride It...I think it's the best r&b song ever, I listen to it a thousand times a day! it's marvellous! This song is good, too, but not as Ride It for sure
