Jason James - If It Feels Right [Premiere]
Artist: Jason James
Producer: Rodney Hazard
Album: Marvelous World of Color
Label: Unsigned
How much do Web and I.D.E.A. believe in their new project Marvelous World of Color? So much that they’ve decided to forgo their musical aliases and promote the project via their government names: Jason James (Web) and Rodney Hazard (I.D.E.A.). That means that whether you love or hate their new track, If It Feels Right, the first leak off Marvelous making its world premiere right here, they’re willing to personally take all the praise (or criticism) Booth nation can dish out. It’s really not that risky of a proposition when you consider just how right Feels Right feels. With Hazard crafting a hypnotic, spacey and electronically dense beat, James follows suit and flows over the track with casually delivered but lyrically self-destructive lines: “Borderline alcoholic I blend / all of my sins in with the tonic and gin.” I’m more of a whiskey man myself, but I can still raise a glass to creative hip-hop like this. The Marvelous World of Color will be revealed for all to see…I mean hear…when it drops on DJBooth August 11.

It's no secret that I've been supporting Jason and Rodney's music for a minute now. In an era of copy and paste hip-hop the duo are making some truly original ish, and doing so damn well. You'll find nothing but props coming from these quarters.
I'd love to know where the vocal sample that Rodney distorts is from. |

That production is hella trippy, it feels like I'm in a 'comfy' bar with the song playing softly n the background. JJ did alright, his flow suited the song well.

Really like Jason's flow, and soul-searching lyrics. Interesting unique production by Rodney.

That's my brother right there, so of course the bias is expected. But seriously from the production to the subject matter/flow this joint is the perfect re-introduction to the Web/Rodney re-volution.
Here's to hip-hop... |

The Pink Floyd-ish production really didnt work for me here. Jason James did well lyricaslly on this but the production was really distracting.
