It seems that unsigned R&B artists are starting to follow a pattern: submit your best record to DJBooth.net in August, watch the rave reviews roll in, wait a few months, and get signed to Beluga Heights/Warner Bros. Devoted readers will remember that Auburn scored a deal soon after she sent single Eww Eww to this very site in August of ‘07. Now, it’s happened again, only replace the key words with “Jason DeRulo,” “Algebra,” and “‘08.” On his latest single, Jason Derulo admits he’d been letting the fame get to his head and flirting with other women behind his girl’s back. Committed to changing his ways, he asks her, “Whatcha Say about some ‘kiss and make up?’” Label boss J.R. Rotem backs the record with a sample from Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek, borrowing the phrase that comes just after the snippet that appeared on DJ Wich‘s What We Need. Jason’s upcoming album, tentatively entitled Future History
which will be self-titled, might not have a release date yet, but, with Rotem’s knack for creating summer anthems, it might arrive sooner than you’d think.

I like this beat alot, (even if it's that OC song) JR is impressive on this one. The singing gets slightly old after awhile so Im giving this 4 stars for the beat and 3 for the overall.

I have to give this a 2.5: just out of rotation. It was catchy and mainstream enough, but it wasn't great. His vocals were pretty unimpressive to me, the melody was mediocre and annoying at times, and the production was average.

This is a banger! He used the sample well, it really fits in with the overall tone of the song. His vocals are good, the beat is banging...its set to take over radio playlists everywhere

Not bad. I thought the 'Algebra' song he had was pretty good too. I think this is the 2nd time I've heard Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek sampled on a track on DJBooth lol. JR and Derulo have a solid track here.

interesting sample for the hook ... The beat is well produced & makes a good use of the catchy sample but Jason's vocals just aint grabbin ma ears ... Rotation.

I absolutely LOVE the chorus.. and the sample is friggn great, Its just like the blast of fresh air this song needs to get radioplay atleast, I like Jason, Havent really seen that much of him though..

To be honest, I liked this a lot. He sounded very good on the verses and the hook was catchy. Put that on some good production work, what else can you ask for? Looking forward to hearing more of him.

I've been listening to this track for about 2 months straight. And it still sounds fresh!!! Very creative. Imogen Heap is a great artist too...probably won't be featured on DJ Booth anytime soon. lol

This song is really good song overall. In this song Jason Derulo has this singing to him that's really, how should I say it...like most r&b singers give it a little bit too much feeling making the song anoying, but Jason Derulo gives it just the right amount of energy to make the song ineresting, yet feeling.
