Jason Caesar - Misery Loves Company
Artist: Jason Caesar
Featuring: Stanza
Producer: Fat Boi
Album: The Musical
Label: PoE.T.s Music
Coined way back when Latin was still a living language, “Misery Loves Company” is an idiom that’s stood the test of time by virtue of being very, very accurate. As true as it is that that the habitually negative like to drag others down with them, the expression doesn’t actually apply to Jason Caesar‘s latest offering – making its world premiere here in the Booth, this joint is more likely to lift listeners’ spirits than dampen them. Over Fat Boi‘s epic beat, fueled by a cinematic blend of piano, choral vocals and strings (the latter borrowed from the Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby), Caesar describes his feelings as he stands on a train platform, wondering if the girl he loves will ever return to him. Keeping the headliner company is ATL’s Stanza, who gets downright Shakespearean in his middle bars: “I’m here to torture you with vengeance and kill you with your thoughts / Make you make stupid decisions, like dual wrist incisions…” It all adds up to a cathartic banger that’s as catchy as it is dark in tone. If you’re digging it, you’ll be able to find more where this came from on his Booth-sponsored The Musical, set to hit our mixtape page Sept 15.

If this is the first time you've heard Jason's work, its really the perfect opportunity to be introduced to his artistry.
Along with fitting assistance from Stanza and Fat Boi (who interpolation of the Beatles is done enjoyable and tactfully), Jason impresses. More from "The Musical" coming to the Booth soon... |

Heard alot of this guy through collabs with Laws and I must say it's about time he started premiering songs on the booth. His vocals are superb. With tracks like this I just wanna hear more.
Stanza supplied a solid guest feature and the production on this is sick. Caesar knows how to make good music, nuff said. |

Is that "Eleanor Rigby " I hear in the background? Anytime you can flip a Beatles track into a heartfelt, deep r&b/hip-hop cut you've earned my respect. I can't say I was particularly familiar with Jason's work before, but the man blew me away on this one.

Caesar has had some other tracks drop on DJBOOTH and this one; like the previous ones; doesn't disappoint in the least.

Caesar absolutlely killed on 4:57 (particularly the breakdown on "So Nice"). Ever since then I've wanted to hear more from him, and this was an enjoyable opportunity.

I was with the track right up until stanza's verse, ironically. Unfortunate.

What's happening to the booth? I just wonder if i'm the only who thinks Jason Caesar sounds like Avant? But anyway I love the production on this song. It kind has that Catholic/ Opera sound. Stanza's verse was nice too.
