In his March interview with DJ Z, the ever-creative Jared Evan listed off a few surprising musical influences; in addition to reigning rock gods Radiohead, the Interscope/Zone 4 signee cited Led Zeppelin and The Doors as providing inspiration for his sound. Well, turns out he wasn’t blowing smoke – Evan’s latest single, In Love With You, is absolutely drenched in bluesy classic-rock grit. Over the electric guitar-driven boardwork of label boss Polow da Don, the artist lets loose with some reedy, Robert Plant-esque sung vocals – and, never one to keep his genres neatly separated, the exclusive freestyle series alumnus tops it all off with some equally impassioned rapped bars. It’s an attention-grabbing joint, to be sure, but is its eclectically raw style a good look for the buzzmaking singer/songwriter/emcee? I’ll leave that for you, the readers, to decide. Jared Evan’s debut studio album has yet to receive either a title or a release date, but the Booth will keep you supplied with the latest news and tunes!

Folks will find it hard to believe that a) Polow crafted this production and b) this single is typical Booth material. Sure it has a rock edge, but Weezy's whack ass project got shine and that wasn't even good. Just imagine, a urban/pop/rock hybrid with talent. I'm a fan.

Wtf Polow did this beat? Wayne should of contacted him for the Rebirth album but I don't think anyone knew he could make beats like these. He needs to continue it too. Jared was great, I don't know what other singers could of pulled this off so well.

Polow Da Don adding yet another flavor to his versatile musical styles and reflecting Jared Evan’s confidence in choosing musicians (Illmind, Ratatat, Statik) who can complement his eclectic vision with considerable ease. This could've easily been a 'swing... and a miss' track but its anything but that.
Jared effectively using his sound in an assertive, challenging way BUT without getting lost into aggression, and does succeed in putting out a release that infuses both accessibility and innovation. |

I never know what I'm going to get when I press play on a Jared track, and that's exactly what I like about the man. This sounds like nothing, nothing out there - like Guitar Hero, this will introduce a whole genre of music to people who wouldn't usually listen to rock.
I'd actually say Jared sounds like Chris Cornell of Soundgarden when he's on his hard rock ish. Yeah, that's right. '90s rock reference, what?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt listen to the whole song. I have never heard anything like this. skeptic about the whole thing at first but when i heard it anyone i mean ANYONE would like it. DJ Z's right. Urban/pop/rock is a real good combo.Weezy's probably getting a call from jail rite now telling him about this. THIS IS A CLASSIC. best of the week. month. maybe year.
