Jamie Foxx - Straight to the Dancefloor
Artist: Jamie Foxx
Featuring: Lil Wayne
Producer: Los Da Mystro
Album: Body
Label: RCA
Featured right before our holiday hiatus, potential album inclusion Marching On proved to be a little too paint-by-numbers for Jamie Foxx’ fans in the Booth. Having struck out on the “sweeping ballad” front, the actor/singer’s drawn up a new battle plan – one that seems to involve… post-hypnotic suggestion? On this newly-leaked potential single, Foxx commands his legions of loyal fans “Go Straight to the Dance Floor, when you hear that sound.,” delivering his orders in a fittingly robotic monotone. If the headliner’s mesmerizing vocals, backed by the springy, synth-drenched production stylings of Los Da Mystro, don’t draw you out onto the floor, the high-profile guest feature should do the trick – Weezy F. steps up to the mic on the back end, comparing himself to a “young Lenny Kravitz” in his brief closing verse. Is GSttDF destined to be Jamie Foxx’ next club smash? I’ll let you be the judge and jury. Whatever your take, keep it locked to the Booth for the latest on the singer’s forthcoming Body LP, scheduled to hit stores March 2.

As a mixtape track, this may fly. For an album, this is a bit weak. It's just a bit too boring for what the title suggests. It's rotation worthy I guess but I'm not crazy about this.

I like Jamie's last album, but I haven't been digging any of the tracks he's released recently. It feels like he's trying to hard, trying to fill out some formula that's been set before. I laughed out loud at the "hands on my nuts" line, other than that, I'll pass. Nothing special.

I usually like Los Da Mystro's productions, but this isn't good. Maybe its just the lackluster lyrics or Jamie Foxx's trying to hard to recreate Blame It without success.

Its decent. One of Jamie's more successful mainstream ventures. Wayne's verse was a nice addition.

What a waste of studio time. But it’ll surely be lip-synched and the backup dancers WILL be earning their pay, that is, expect a video coming out soon.

This is a pretty weak attempt for me! I still think Jamie is still tryin to find an identity in the music game. He keeps switching his style up too much and I think its hurting him as an artist. Dude can blow no doubt but do he really need the vocalizer! Cmon dawg! I just aint feelin it...even wit Weezy on it.

Like some of you guys said, he is trying way to hard. He needs to be more creative.. Way more creative. None of the songs off his new album are good so far. This album is gonna be a disappointment if he doesn't turn this around.

Oh Jamie Foxx… I’d blame this on the alcohol my friend… The whole robotic sound didn’t work, at all; epic fail. In retrospect, Lil’ Wayne’s verse was quite relieving and pleasantly welcomed…
All I have to say is get hand off your nuts Jamie, grab a pen, and get to writing… You have a lot of work to do. As a matter of fact… go ahead and keep your hand on your nuts, don’t even bother. Just go and get yourself featured on some good artist’s songs… Oh how I miss the Slow Jamz days… Perhaps you should give Kanye a call? I’m only giving this a 3 because at one time I did consider him a decent artist… |

100% agree with Big-A. Way too hard.
How you can sit in the studio and listen to this and think hey that's a hit is beyond me. |

I actually like this. Jamie isn't good but the beat is pretty bangin. Could have been a little more filled out in the chorus.
