Jamie Foxx was riding high after the extraordinary success of his previous album Intuition, but the build-up to his next full-length has repeatedly hit a roadblock that can’t simply be blamed on the alcohol; the lack of a hit single (anyone remember Winner?). Never fear Foxx fans, Aubrey Graham is here. For his new (potential) single, Fall for Your Type, Jamie’s recruited boy wonder Drake and his trusty production sidekick Noah “40” Shebib, and if history’s any indication, America will fall head over heels for this slowly romantic burner. Behind the boards 40 lays down his trademark electro-minimalism, while Foxx once again reminds us that in addition to the acting, he’s got some legit vocal chops. And yes folks, Drizzy drops in for a smooth verse that sounds like it could have been picked up off the Thank Me Later cutting room floor. Will Fall provide the push Jamie needs to make Body every bit as successful as Intuition? If so it’s going to have to work fast, the album’s December 14, release date is getting closer by the second.

This song first appeared on the R&B / Pop Chart on November 1, 2010

Getting Drake on a record cannot hurt Mr. Foxx, especially after the weak sauce better known as his latest single with Ricky Ross (and no, I didn't rhyme that line on purpose).

You know what. I'm leaning towards Drake messin this whole song up. This is a 4.2 if Drake is not on it. The verse was wack and Jamie finally killed it with no autotune. It would have been refreshing to hear this song with no autotune. Jamie if you read this, please recreate this song with only you on it. This is new babymakin music.

Hey Z, you know this was originally sung fully by Drake right? The consensus from most people is that his "reference" version is much better than this...

I think this version is just fine, though I did like the original Drake version better. I would have selected that to replace either of the R&B songs on "Thank Me Later".

yeah, i've had the 1 verse Drake Version on my "Gettin' It In" playlist for at least 6 months. This version is just ok in Jamie's hands, but I think if Drake did the whole thing himself I'd swoon a lil more over it.

40 is a Freakin Genius! I am feelin the smoothness of the track. Excellent production on here. Jamie Foxx ALWAYS sounds good to me. Drake easily sounds at home on this track. They should add Sade to the remix and this would be Classic. They better pay me for the idea too!

I'm sorry, but the Drake version, while short, was better. Damn. I hate when a record with potential gets passed on to the wrong artist.

I don't know the other version, but to me this is a banger. I really like this kind of RnB. The production reminds me of The Dream/Tricky a bit. On my playlist for sure! ;)

The Rick Ross collabo was a dope club banger, but this one is much better; production is stellar; I'd have preferred Drake to croon over this, but his verse was solid. But most importantly, NO auto-tune. One of the best offerings I've heard from this new album.

Great song, i actualy lyk tha way 40 makes composes hs beats, uniquetly fab n together with jamies voice n drakes sense of flowing the waz no-dout that tis was to be a hit single on foxx's nu album.. and if they were to do a remix, wizzy must be tha last guy 2b considered, coz songs lik tis r easily ruined wen he is featured in it** no offence dude!!

Doesn't really grab you, so I'm not convinced it will be a huge hit, but it's a nice joint and so with Drake on board I don't think there's any question it can make some moves on the chart if Foxx' people truly push it.

For the record, there's really not a Drake "version", just a reference track that leaked. But if people truly think the Drake's reference, which was basically an outline for another artist to fill in, is really better, than Foxx is in trouble.

@Mike Dreams - Yup, and I honestly don't care for leaked reference or demo tracks. I don't listen to them, and we don't feature or bring light to them. They are a product of the internet game, and its a shame - Foxx shouldn't have to worry about people holding up a reference track against his final body of work.

I might stand alone here, but the way 40 sets the tone for a real R&B singer to kill this beat is undeniable. Drake's creativity on tracks like this usually catch my attention, but Jamie sounds great.

I could hear drake crooning the whole song...this single sounds like his type of R&B. But its all about Jamie and with Drake along this will be in rotation. It might just be a hit. Lets hope Drake doesnt mess up the video for his part.

Finally the first song from Jamie's new album that I like. It's obvious that this is Drake influenced and it has his style written all over it. Luckly, Jamie is perfect when it comes to fitting in with trends. His voice is good, though it would of been better without the autotune and 40 continues to bring nice production.

Also Jamie can sing better than Drake so I would prefer this over the short Drake version. Only Drake stans would disagree.

I love this... I loved it when I heard the Drake version about six months ago and was disappointed that it wasn't on Thank Me Later. Honestly, I'm so used to hearing Drake's version that this one sounds foreign BUT I think I can rock with Jamie's too. Good song

No doubt did his thing on the original version. But it's way too short. Adding J. Foxx creates a complete song. With that said, if Drake ran this whole song people would be screaming Drake overload. Sometimes you got to mix it up. Trial and error I guess. If anything, big props to 40 for the production.

I still like Drakes version better, maybe it's because I know he wrote it, but he does sound better on it, in my opinion. Yeah this song is good, but to me, I look down on Jamie for taking over a project, that was already leaked to the world, and him to try and sit on it and claim it his. As much as Jamie can kill R&B tracks, Drake sounded much better on the Original. If the two come up with something ORIGINAL, Holla, until then, relax, because it doesn't compare, whether you look at them or not. The truth is the truth.

smooth track, but too slow in places

Drake's contribution was mediocre to that of the latter, but I kinda agree with Young Willy Cower and say that Drake got it wrong on this one.
