Considering how long it’s been since we’ve heard from NYC crooner Jaiden (over a year and a half), the title of his last feature, Flashbacks, seems pretty damned apt. But let’s talk about the present. Today, the rising R&B star is back on our frontpage to take us somewhere we’ve never been and set our souls on fire (which actually sounds kinda scary, now that I think about it) with inaugural mixtape leak The One. Here, the ebbing and flowing slow-jam boardwork of producer Troy Oliver sets the stage for a steamy duet between Jaiden and the object of his affections – played by Yummy Bingham, a young singer/songwriter whose vocal chops are as impressive as her stage name is hilarious (to me, anyway). Boasting two talented singers and a spacey instrumental vibe, One will undoubtedly satisfy those craving a creative bedroom burner. Does this cut, um, complete you? Then you’ll most definitely want to keep it locked for the latest on Jaiden’s The Cure Suite II: The Lost Songs street album, which has yet to receive a solid release date.

At first I felt like our lineup tonight was a bit too R&B-heavy, but then I thought to myself... "How often do we have several rotation (or beyond) worthy R&B records to feature at once? F*ck it."

I'm sure some listeners will find "The One" to be slightly boring, tired, and a bit too slow, but if you accept the song for what it is - and can enjoy slow jams - there is more than enough to enjoy. The vocals are solid, both artists play off one another well (their duet section is the highlight), and the instrumentation is too smooth. Job well done.

Nice song, I love duets too. Both of them have solid voices, Yummy's voice sounds young (like she's a kid) but held her own. The 3rd verse when the sing together was great.

I dont know Jaiden...but I know Yummy! I remember she was signed bout 5 years ago...I always wondered what happened to her. I always liked her voice. The production was ok, Jadien was ok. but I really want to hear Yummy on some Soulful songs alone. She was the highlight 4 fo.

I'm not feeling the chemistry between these two, and the chorus is well below par for my "Slow Jam" standards.

yeah yummy does sound pretty young but she also sounds pretty good. their voices mesh really well on the last verse, kinda reminds me of the justin garner & leona lewis version of 'cant breathe' but this is slightly worse, not much though

Damn people, are we all single? My test for these songs are always, "would I put it on when I'm with my lady?", and by that measure The One works admirably. It may not be the climax, but this track's definitely a mood setter, and we have to thank Jaiden for that. Thank you sir.

Jaiden: Good to have you back...You're proving to live up to your album series name...
And where have you all been! Yummy's BEEN doin' her thing...First heard her when she did background to Pretty Willie's "4 Walls" in '04, then when she did that song with Jadakiss in late '05...She's still got it!

Looking forward to hearing more from both!

The One has been a long time favorite of the fans behind the scenes so it was finally time to give it to the people... Hope you enjoy. Look out for the Cure Suite II: Lost Songs - S/O Z

Dude's vocals are smooth on this. The production is nice too. It gets kinda boring after a while though.

This is def. the mood setter indeed. As far as how much rotation it gets is a little below average, I'm not trying to put my lady to sleep before the fun starts haha
