Don’t be deceived by Jah Free’s name; other than his dreadlocks, there is nothing even remotely Rastafarian or reggae-like about him. The West Covinia, CA artist is one of the newcomers to the Pop-R&B movement that has been all the rage lately. His new single, The One, is an up-tempo jam about landing that one special catch among a sea of women. For upcoming R&B stars, that sea can certainly look quite enticing. Producer Fingazz lays down some brisk percussion and light strings, providing a fitting backdrop for Jah’s airy vocals. The track may not have enough energy for club play, but it makes for good headphone music. While no official announcements have been made regarding the release of his debut album, it is expected to make noise sometime next year.
This is a very smooth joint. The production has a nice R&B swing feel to it. It definitely keeps your head bobbing back and forth. Jah's vocals sound on point. This is a banger for sure. I wonder if this will get national Top 40 airplay.
F F F F F FINGAZZ ON THE TRACK!!!! another flawless production by one of the most underrated producers.... dude can sing.... at least with a little help from autotune...
Michaelhannah asks, "I wonder if this will get national Top 40 airplay?" That is a great question. Jah has a solid backing from Warner Bros, so he has the power to get this record spinning nationally. It is right there for the making... it just need a little push. Very catchy.
This is pretty tight right here. I like the vocals and the production is nice too. I just don't know if he has much (besides his hair) to set him apart from the others. This is a great start though!
I heard this song before, but I knew it wasn't Colby, lol. Sounds like a mix of the two members of Rock City, and I'm not against that. The song's production is nice, but I don't see this going incredibly far. It's just OK, it's nothing mind blowing.
mark my word !! this dudes a class A artist in due time hes gonna be everywhere ! this song is all in the clubs in south beach and vegas ! the kids not even on the radio yet!
