With the scarcity of new Jadakiss material in recent memory, (he had just two solo features in 2010), his devotees may be starting to wonder whether something’s wrong. Did that romantic spark die out while we weren’t paying attention? Could he be… seeing someone else? Worry no longer: today Jada’s back with the audio equivalent of a bouquet of red roses, ready and willing to Hold You Down through good times and bad. This newly-leaked cut off the emcee’s forthcoming street album finds beatsmith J Buttah cooking up an appropriately smooth, bell-laced R&B backdrop for ‘Kiss’ expressions of love and devotion. Though ostensibly addressed to one special lady, his rhymes are sure to resonate with listeners who’ve stuck with him over the years: “I’m here cause I wanna be, not ‘cause I have to be… gotta give you all of me, can’t give you half of me.” Complete with the silky hook vocals of Time Is Up collaborator Emanny, this musical token of Jada’s affection is only the beginning of what’s in store on I Love You, the fan-dedicated mixtape prelude to new studio album Top 5 Dead or Alive (coming later this year).

You have to respect Jada for his ability to make a record like "Hold You Down," featuring a female-driven storyline and hook from the MJ-inspired vocals of Emanny, without losing one iota of credibility amongst his hardcore street fanbase.

Props to Jada for being able to create a lady-driven track that the fellas can feel. Not what we've expected from Kiss, but I think the production on this lays the groundwork for him to come and shine. Emmany really impressed me on the hook too, giving it a radio-ready certified stamp.

Ratings all across the board... Typical Jadakiss track haha. You either feel him or you don't but he makes this track work which comes to huge surprise to me. Maybe he'll get some credit he deserves from this track

Production by J Buttah set this track up ... Jada always seems to be the one featured on tracks like this but this being his song could be the next joint on the Radio... I see the video already... J Buttah shout out to you big homie for doing it big for the DMV

Just not getting that excited over this. It's nice, I'm a Jada fan and it's got a real chance to make it on radio, but at the end of the day it's also just a tweak of the same rapper/ladies jam track we've been hearing for five years now.

For a minute I thought it was Ne-Yo on the hook. Jada did his thing as he always does and I can’t wait for this mixtape. The Champ Part 3 was beast.
