Jadakiss is best known for producing gritty music for the Northeastern streets, but you might not guess it from a glance over his recent features; when the D-Block veteran’s not teaming up with R&B singer Emmany to tell a special girl he’ll “Hold [Her] Down,” he’s asking Teyana Taylor to “Rock Wit [Him].” Those wondering about the hard Jada’s whereabouts, however, can breathe a sigh of relief—as evidenced by this new promo cut, that Jada is still very much on his Grind. Premiered Friday on Funkmaster Flex’ Hot 97 program, the record finds Jason Phillips reaffirming his dedication to the hustle over the block-ready chopped-sample boardwork of Bink! and Austin Dovercourt. When he’s not tough-talking the competition and mythologizing his paper chase, the rap heavyweight takes the opportunity to flaunt his formidable pen game: “Mob like I’m from the west side of Sicily, a true lyricist; I am the epitome / Typically speaking or just speaking typically, If rap was a cologne, y’all n*ggas wouldn’t get a whiff of me.” Though it has yet to be revealed whether this joint will appear on yet-unscheduled senior set Top 5 Dead or Alive (or any project), fans can keep it locked to the Booth for anything and everything ‘Kiss leading up to the album’s release.
