Jackie Chain - Living It Up
Artist: Jackie Chain
Producer: Block Beattaz
Album: Who Da Mane
Label: Universal Republic
Up here in Minneapolis, sweltering summer weather is already a distant memory, but Booth newcomer Jackie Chain‘s hometown of Huntsville, Alabama remains at a toasty 87 degrees as of press time – thus, the late-summer vibe of newly-leaked album cut Living It Up could hardly be more appropriate. Over the Block Beattaz’ breezy guitar strumming and airy synths, Mike Posner‘s Smoke N Drive compadre comes with carefree rhymes to match. Encouraging listeners to let loose and live for the moment, the hilariously-named emcee (“Jackie Chain” doesn’t have quite the humor value of “Fidel Cashflow,” but it’s up there) heightens the mood with some beach-party imagery: “We love the cool breeze, we love the palm trees / I love bikinis and blowin’ on this bomb weed.” Whatever the weather ‘round your way, you can’t argue with this joint’s laid-back ambiance. Looking for some more hip-hop freshness to soundtrack your fall festivities? You’ll find what you seek on Who Da Mane, set to hit the net this October via Universal Motown.

Jackie has long been on our radar, but we've been waiting for a record to feature that we felt would really make a great first impression on our readers. Well, the wait is over. We selected "Living It Up" and after a few listens we think you'll agree with our decision. If not, we're all ears (or eyes).

I downloaded before i even listened. then i listened. Jackie Chain is a raw character from 'bama. been jamming him for over 2 years since I heard Rollin' for the first time put it on repeat for about 2 hours haha.
i like Chain's efforts with this record, a more mellow, more radio friendly song. congrats for making it to the Booth. |

He seems ok, but this is all I have heard from him. He has potential, but this song fell flat like halfway through

With a name like Jackie Chain you just have to be completely and totally yourself, and it sounds like Chain's doing exactly that. To me this sounds like a poor man's Konvict record, which given Akon's success still makes it pretty damn good. I'm going to have to hear more of Jackie's rhymes before I can form a real opinion, but for now this is perfectly enjoyable.

If this was on the radio i would totaly let it ride for its full play time. But if i put this on my ipod, it would have a hard time stackin up to the other tracks on there.

Jackie Chain shawty! Big fan but this track doesn't do him justice. Far cry from anything that he is known for. Hope Universal doesn't force him to drop this kind of music
